My friend's death anniversary is coming up and I was wondering if anyone has lost a friend?
We had class together on a Friday and I told him I would see him on Monday. That was the last day I talked too him before his death.

First and foremost, my condolences to you, and your friends family. Back to your post; I have also lost a friend, she was an unfortunate victim of Typhoon Haiyan this past year. Her anniversary will be later on this year.

Yes. Several years ago.

I've never experienced grief... or death of a close person. So I'm wondering how I'm going to take it... when that time comes. (I only grew up with 4 people).

I've only experienced the death of a pet, that nearly killed me, emotionally. (made me decided to never get a pet again, I think I feel more sad for animals than humans, tbh).

I've lost quite a few close relatives, but I haven't lost any close friends of mine. Some of my more distant friends and acquaintances have died though. When I hear about a death, it makes me really sad and frustrated for not being able to help them in some way. I also wish I spent more time with them...

Yeah, back in 8th grade , she was walking across the street with her friend and was hit by a car and died. The next day of school was most definitely the most miserable day of school I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing.

It's been 4 1/2 years since I lost my cousin. He was one of my best friends and was like a brother to me. Sometimes I still find it hard to believe that he's actually gone.

One of my friends I went to high school with not even 2 years ago passed away from diabetes. I was really surprised when I found out he passed away.

When I was 16, I lost two friends to car wrecks. The first was an ejection, then he was hit by his car. The second was later that year, he was in a wreck, suffered a skull fracture, was healing nicely, and he fell in the hospital, which killed him.
I lost a neighborhood kid to cancer when she was 5, and I lost a friend from the same neighborhood recently in a wreck.
I had a cousin commit suicide by wreck, he struck a tree at between 90 and 120 miles per hour.
I had a friend hang herself a couple of years ago, I had known her growing up, she was about 10 years older than me, and we would visit, go on trips, and stuff. Her son (through an interesting family dynamic) was a friend of mine, and when the dynamic shifted, I still spent time with her. I won't say it gets easier, but I will say that I have become more numb to death (unless it's a pet, that sticks with me for months).

A friend of mine in High School had a lot of family problems. His folks kicked him out and he was living in his car while working at a fast food joint. He stopped coming to school. I heard rumors he was getting involved with selling drugs. Then he was found in his car dead. I'd offered for him to crash with me, some other friends had too. He was never very popular and he had some issues, but he was good people. It really is a shame, he didn't even make it to eighteen.

To those posters who have had one, sorry for your loss.

You've gone through way too much for someone who is so young. Your only 4 years older than me, and yet you have experienced a lifetime of tragedy and more... I'm sorry.
