When I was 16, I lost two friends to car wrecks. The first was an ejection, then he was hit by his car. The second was later that year, he was in a wreck, suffered a skull fracture, was healing nicely, and he fell in the hospital, which killed him.
I lost a neighborhood kid to cancer when she was 5, and I lost a friend from the same neighborhood recently in a wreck.
I had a cousin commit suicide by wreck, he struck a tree at between 90 and 120 miles per hour.
I had a friend hang herself a couple of years ago, I had known her growing up, she was about 10 years older than me, and we would visit, go on trips, and stuff. Her son (through an interesting family dynamic) was a friend of mine, and when the dynamic shifted, I still spent time with her. I won't say it gets easier, but I will say that I have become more numb to death (unless it's a pet, that sticks with me for months).

You've gone through way too much for someone who is so young. Your only 4 years older than me, and yet you have experienced a lifetime of tragedy and more... I'm sorry.

Thank you, but as we speak on the subject I sit with a friend who has lost two friends in the past week, four in the past 6 weeks to shootings. When we lived closer, both of us lived in one of the more horrifying cities in the US, I managed to run, he didn't.

Lost 7 friends my freshman year of college over a break up and my resulting emotional implosion. I had been more distant from my family and the friends I had known as a kid, so the 7 were most of my social interaction, then the two who were still left ultimately left me high and dry in the following 18 months. They may not be dead, and in fact, some of them, I feel a strong need to apologize, but between the fact that I lack remorse and the fact I would never trust any of them again (nor will I ever trust again to the extent I trusted them before everything went south), the words just don't seem viable. I'm pretty good at creating facades, but two of these people can always tell what my actual emotion is.

Lost a friend, as in death? The only people who I lost (that I can remember affecting me,) was my grandfather and uncle, both of which I was extremely close to. I always hardened up after a death, and avoided people, to avoid bringing anyone down.

Lost someone in terms of physically losing them? I'm still looking for my childhood friend who I can't find. I really wish I knew what her last name was.

My condolences to everyone in this forum, death is a hard thing, and it's consequences are irreversible. I only wish I could empathize with all of you, because it's way too difficult for any one person to have to go through alone. You have my respect.

Anthony, My best friend, we've known each other since we were 13, and passed away at 28. We had some crazy times together, ill never forget them. It was hard to deal with but i knew ud be pissed if I didn't get myself back up. And now my life is finally getting better, i got married no kids though :P. And you share birthdays with her, how cool is that huh :). I miss you bro.

Brad, My best friend, ive known you since you were 5 years old you were just a lil kid. But you grew up to be a good man with awesome dreams, it was so sad when you passed away so young at 19. Last thing I remember was me and Anthony were turning you into a nerd so you could fix your own pc while you were away at college. I miss you Buckeye.

My condolences, to anyone whos lost someone.

I lost a couple of good buddies when I was in the Army, also lost some outside the Army while I was in. Making true friends is hard when they all pass away suddenly, I have never been a large friend group type of guy, just a close few.

July 12, 2007 I lost my best friend, someone I considered my brother. I still remember the call I got, where I was, who called me and told me, I remember calling my mom to see if she could check if it was true. When she called me back and told me all I wanted to do was go home and cry. I have never felt so hollow or empty in my life. It still bothers me till this day, but I will always carry the great memories we have. My condolences to anyone who has lost someone.
