Personally I don't mind paying every month for anime or manga access, so long as I can in fact access the anime and manga that I want. Reading/watching free manga/anime makes me feel bad, because as a fan I want to help keep the industry going. thats my opinion anyway, people should stop complaining and just fork up a few dollars a month -.-
If it were up to me I'd buy all the manga I enjoy, problem is that most of it isn't licensed in english

I don't think it's possible to acquire all the anime and manga, CR would probably have to be a Fortune 500 to even begin to afford a fraction of that. I don't know what changes you want to premium membership content but's it's all available after a week as free ad supported viewing.

I think they shouldn't do it! Because since we all know that anime has become really popular in the whole world... yeah... many people or otakus rather will be seriously saddened by this... I mean not all of us have money be able to do things on the net right?

I don't see how 7$ is out of anyone's reach unless you live in a poor country with an extreme horrible exchange rate. That amount is usually what I would spend in a combo meal at McDonald's, it's a very affordable price for all the content crunchyroll offers. I refuse to pay for ads which is a reason why i cancelled my hulu plus membership, I would rather pay 14$ than have to deal with uninteresting advertisement.

no matter what they try they do not own the internet. its almost impossible to remove this stuff from ALL sites. Also rather they try or not isn't going to stop people from uploading.

Therefore, crunchyroll doesn't need to change anything. Be glad that there is a site that has some that are uploaded legally. last time I checked CR isn't much to pay for either.

All of the people saying CR should be cheaper are people who don't have premium accounts.. seriously CR is only 7 dollars a month, it's nothing compared to other streaming services.. Also I'm always so broke at the end of the month after I pay bills and such but you know what I can still afford? The seven dollar Crunchyroll account. Also hasn't this already been pushed through, and all the sites I use for animes that I can't get here are still up so I'm not worried about big bad japan taking my animu and mangos away.

This project was doomed from the start. No matter what you do, there will always be piracy on the Internet.

Oh, how sad. I thought they had to make money but nevermind.

No need add for premium. That's why we pay to get rid of them.

I thought CR was doing pretty well, seeing as we are seeing more and more content, even dubbed anime. CR seems to be doing pretty well with killing off piracy as well, I'm sure many of us torrented anime a lot before we learned about CR.

I agree with this, but I also don't. I think if you have a repository that shows where you can watch or read manga online *legally*, I think it will at least be a step forward to trying to combat piracy. I wonder how many people torrent shows that you can watch for free on Crunchyroll? How many of those people know about Crunchyroll, or similar sites?

Combating piracy isn't really just about taking down the worst offenders or trying to cut off their supplies - it's about informing people, it's about moving to a consumer-friendly system of commerce and it's about availability. Anime is, to be honest, absolutely terrible at the last two. If you're buying the DVDs or Blu-Rays, you're going to be spending a lot of money (except perhaps the most popular shows/films), and that's assuming they're available in your region. If not, then you'll be spending a lot of money on imported copies (probably with a few customs payments here and there). If you want the music? Well, chances are you're out of luck.

I think there's plenty of ways in which the market could change to support creators, distributors and customers alike. If anime soundtracks were sold on iTunes, Bandcamp, etc. as MP3s, that would help cut piracy. And if it was done in conjunction with a site like this database of where to obtain/watch anime legally? I think you could make huge waves to cutting down on piracy.
