Concerning Japan's new anti-piracy project
Posted 8/17/14
thing is and this is for you premium members really, im not saying get rid of all your premium perks, you can still have your HD content, your ad-free...dom, and your week of the newest episode, im just saying and there is premium only content btw, make it available for everyone...and lets not forget about the Crunchyroll app either, non-premium members can only watch the sample videos so you guys can watch your anime on the TV through a console...or if your TV is connected to the internet you premium members keep that too so stop complaining like "Oh, your asking us to drop all our privileges, you don't think about anyone but yourself" ...that statement does make you seem like a monster so yeah no offence to you but if you think that, try making a new account and see it from a non-premium perspective

The think licencors need to understand if you don't provide a legal avenue for your product a black market will emerge. If I can't find a series on CR, funimation or Hulu I am going to a third party site and I will not feel bad about it at all.

What you do not seem to understand is that Crunchyroll is not a site here to quench your anime cravings, it's a service. There has to be some kind of incentive for people to pay for this service, otherwise the business will not make any money. Heck, Crunchyroll is even generous in this exchange, giving even those who do not pay free access to most of their tittles.

Also, I only buy anime after I have streamed them and enjoyed them or manga after I have seen the show. If it wasn't for streaming sites I would have never have bought so many anime related products and DVDs. That is the other side of the equation they neglect as well.

Japan can't lay a finger on most pirates.

The downfall of fansubbing is not caused by extra laws and regulations.
The downfall of fansubbing is caused by the rise in quality and quantity of legal websites and shows.
Currently, fansubs are still higher quality than legal subs. Maybe one day CR will catch up.

imo fansubs help the industry. More people viewing the show = more purchases of related items.

~~~~~~~~
What would really be cool is if CR had an app that enables you to watch anime offline. Not everywhere has internet access. One of the main appeals of fansubs is that it can be viewed without internet.
i stand by my words...people, and if you want to argue about a difference in opinion go ahead but it wont change the way i think, anyways ppl are lazy and will buy whatever it takes to make things easier for them, and frankly if you can't realize hat your a fool. also Crunchyroll is a site where people can watch anime, its better then those mediocre free sites that are very sketchy, so i agree they deserve a little money, it is not too much to ask that those who cannot afford a membership be capable of watching E.G. seasons 1-13 of Bleach and as i put in my first statement, just add more commercials or something, put a half-way point survey to keep up with funds...would it be that hard to compromise
umm no.. sorry. but i am not paying to watch commericals. Crunchyroll doesn't need to change anything about their price. the price of 6-13$ a month for all you can watch anime is quite reasonable.
if anything, they could raise the price by a few dollars, and then use that extra profit to buy licenses to stream globally for more shows.
Pirating isn't going to stop either. You're bonkers if you believe the japanese goverment can stop piracy by sending "strongly worded emails" .
Crunchyroll is the only legal streaming site that allows for global anime streaming (at-least on some titles) (i am not counting daisuki, since they only have like 11 shows).
You should be damn well thankful for all the stuff crunchyroll brings to the international anime community especially for the reasonable price of the membership, not to mention all the free content on the site
Crunchyroll is not the only legal streaming site. You forgot about Funimation. I had to watch Kuroshitsuji Book of Circus on Funimation because Crunchyroll said it wasn't available in my region.
But I do agree that Crunchyroll's price is very reasonable and we should be lucky that we even have a legal streaming site that lets us watch anime. There are countries that have banned anime, so we should be thankful.
Funi is way behind of CR in terms of both quality and quantity.
Funi subs can be cringeworthy at times, as they infamously were for 'Nourin'.
Awhile back I did small study for music piracy. I took the 10 most pirated songs on BitTorrent and looked up several big reviewers for each song (Rolling Stone, Billboard, etc).
Without exception, every song that was pirated was considered "average" or "sub par". What I infer from this is that people might just pirate average stuff - not the really, really good stuff. Also, there were no songs in the list from indie artists, only mega stars.
I assume it's no different with anime. God knows there are plenty of average shows. That's not even touching the reality of the anime market's piss-poor methodology of distribution - extremely limited, with (if I remember right) NO price alterations between here and Japan. Anime and manga aren't expensive because of a limited market - they don't even bother to change the pricing when they export it! Then they strangle their own production base with piss-poor wages and working standards? They sound like perfectly distilled Republicans to me.
i'll trust your word on that subject, and frankly i'll back you if people start arguing with you over it. so yeah, good day to you sir
they try to get everything, but not always successful because the licensors want more money or something.
they managed to get love stage, so i'm pretty content at the moment... i wanted to watch that since the beginning of the year.
im not saying that they don't try, im just saying that if the Japanese gov'n goes and closes all the sites i can only find certain anime on, they should try to get as much as they can, everything was a bit of an optimistic term since people like different shows
ok here is how im closing this forum, when i said everything, it was under my perception of optimism, since i know people have different tastes in the content they watch, and as for the other half, that was all my opinion and everyone needs to shut up about it, cause it aint changing
Opinion or not, that's not really how this works. You voice an opinion and people are probably going to respond. If you don't want responses, don't post or ignore the responses.
Do you really think that means anything at all? You saying "CR you need to acquire EVERY anime and manga whilst also lowering the cost of membership. Do you really expect me to believe that you can't afford $7 despite having a computer and a roof over your head? CR is already giving us what we're paying for, so don't be so damned greedy. Your profile says you're older, but mentally, you're are so much younger and more immature and if you've been using the site twice as long, you should be more tolerable.
Quit a lot of shows are unavailable here in the Netherlands, and those that are I watch 'alternatively'. Because there is no way I am not gonna watch some shows which I want to watch!! The idea that the Japanese government can do anything about this is good for a laugh or two, not mch more. I haven't exactly seen any changes in the last few weeks... D:
