Where's Attack on Titan in this?! That stomped on my feels until they were a bloody pulp, then came back on the following episode and destroyed what was left. ; ;

Wasn't that part of Fullmetal Alchemist actually in the original anime and not Brotherhood? Not many things make me cry because I don't usually cry easily, but that part of the original anime gets me every time that I watch through it, and I've watched through it several times now.

It may well have been. Sometimes it's hard to sort what happened in which. It's a pretty powerful scene, regardless. Seeing children in such circumstances is painful to say the least, real or imaginary.

One scene I know for certain was in Brotherhood which emotionally compelled me was:

It's just an excellent piece of work no matter how you slice it, and no matter which version you watch. FMA is awesome, bottom line.

As for the Madoka Magica thing, that part got to me as well, though I was more sad over it than actually crying. Like, depressed sad.

I related most strongly to Mami and Sayaka, so their stories were particularly potent for me.

I cried when Rukia came back in Bleach to give Ichigo back his powers. It was more emotional for me than when she disappeared because he couldn't see her anymore. Maybe because someone who had read the manga ahead of me had told me that she came back. I literally watched that part of that episode until the end of it like five times over when I first watched the episode, crying almost the whole time every time.

Ah, Bleach. My second most favorite of the Big 3 (number one is One Piece).

And I took the Black Butler part out of my response because it's an anime that I want to watch at some point and don't want to be spoiled over it.

So----o worth it.

It's either because you've only been exposed to poorly-constructed illusions, or you're too busy concentrating on the fact that you're looking at illusions to experience their intended effects. Only you could say which is the case, though.

Well there was one Shinsengumi anime years before Hakuoki came... that actually made me cry becuase one character was dealing with death and that scene was very realistic to me and since I was dealing with death too, that rooftop scene made me realy cry .

It could be depression. People can feel the emptiness in their life in sympathy with losses in anime. For me the older I got the more family that has passed on; some shows like Clannad After Story hit really, really hard and close to home.

The final scene with Misuzu and her mother. Even thinking about it now makes me tear up a bit.

Goal.

Anohana, but that kind of goes without saying doesn't it?

It was Wolf Children that really got me though. I don't know how much of it was the movie and how much was my own stuff but the combination made me cry like a baby for (no exaggeration) three hours.

Now I want to watch it again, partly because it was great, but mostly out of curiosity to see if it can possibly trigger anything approaching the same effect.

I think empathy is the reason, more than depression, but I can understand that too.
