Gwen shook her head. "I can't eat, unfortunately. I've heard of older, more powerful ghosts who have found a way to be able to, but I have yet to succeed. And as for other ghosts there, I have yet to see any, surprisingly enough. And most of the patients can't see or hear me. Only those with some form of psychic ability can see me, although apparently those who are already insane can hear me, if Aris is anything to go by...."

Aris Verlac

"How interesting," He says, still stirring the soup.

"Aris is a wonderful child, I've seen him grew up in the House. I was once in charge of him you see, and his futile attempts of escaping amuses every doctors in the House. True, Aris is insane, but we have yet to test that theory. Perhaps it is only a coinicidence that he could hear you because of a chemical that triggered his sixth sense? Not the paranormal one, but the sense of being sensitive to the environment that he could hear in a lower decibel or frequency that most ghost emits? It would seem incomplete due to the fact that he is halfway finished. Of course, we cannot exclude the fact that some people has psychic abilities as you claim they have. Humans are interesting creatures." He muses, setting up the plates, utensils, glasses and place mats and coasters.

Gwen went through the counter to go over and look at the soup. "Ooh, that looks yummy." She looked up at Hephaestion. "You speak as if you're not human, either."

"Why thank you, Gwen, I'm pretty sure I'd fool him into eating his veggies." He smiles at her as he wipes his hands using his apron.

"You could say that. I had abandoned my humanity years ago. Such word does not apply to anymore. I'm anything but humane." He says, ringing the nearby bell thrice. He could hear footsteps and excited yells of 'Meat! I'm starved!' and 'I'm going to murder you all bitches and assholes!'

"There's a difference between being humane, and being a human. The two don't have to go hand in hand." Gwen grinned at Aris, his insanity was starting to grow on her. "That would be kind of hard, since I'm already dead!" She chuckled. At least things will never be boring with him around.

Aris Verlac

"Of course they don't. However, I both threw them away. And it doesn't mean that if you're dead you'll lose your humanity or human. You are a remnant of what is left to that disposable body. What you are now doesn't really change what you were before. If you don't allow time to work on its own pace. So I don't think it'll be that hard though." Hephaestion says as he swats the hand of Aris who's eagerly poking the plates and glasses. He add the bowls on top of the plates and Aris lets out a laugh, twirling as the shirt becomes bloodied.

"Aris, your injury. It hasn't been healing." He says, turning off the fire and walking towards the lad, who doesn't give a damn about his injuries.

"Meh, who cares? I don't. Is the ghost lady's away? I'm not sharing my food." Aris says, hitting Hephaestion forcefully. " YOU CAN'T EAT MY DAMN FOOD YOU LITTLE SHIT! He yells at the former doctor as Hephaestion dodges most it calmly.

"Keep still brat." He tells the yelling Aris.

Gwen watched Hephaestion trying to deal with Aris' wound. "And that right there, in my opinion, is proof that you still have some humanity left in you. Someone who was completely inhuman, wouldn't keep trying to take care of him when he's being such a pest." She focused her energy into her arms and deftly caught Aris' shoulders and pushed him onto a stool so he was sitting. "Come on, crazy. The sooner you get that taken care of, the sooner you can eat."

Hephaestion looks at her in wonder as he cocks his head sidewards, his eyes seemingly like piercing through hers because of his intense creepy gaze that would give anyone shivers. It also have a mad glint on them, unusual for a sane person like him.

"Humanity? What is Humanity? Ah, humanity is something good, what I'm doing, however, is something hideous."

Hephaestion Crawford
Loony Hephy
He says cryptically, his mind swirling with the malicious thoughts he had when he decided he'd follow and observe Patient 503. He wanted to see him break. To drive himself in the realm of true madness. Aris is a perfect manifestation for this little experiment he's conducting. A young innocent child turning to a man made monster after years of being exiled in the house. He had seen Aris squirm and suffer, he had seen everything behind the shadows, he is one of the main reasons why Aris is who he is right now. He is the one who fell in love with that insanity and decided that Aris would be his favorite toy, his to manipulate, until the lad breaks. Aris wouldn't have any chance of escaping the House if he didn't left clues and subtle means of escaping.

This facade his showing is just masking who he really is. Yes, in over all sense of physical aspect and perhaps mental, he is saner than Aris, but he's much worse than him, he is that person who creates the monsters living in the house. He is Aris's creator who almost perfected his masterpiece with him. Just a bit more, he needs to bid his time well.

Of course, he masked his little experiment perfectly. Not even the master actors and actresses would see through his guise. He is, after all, the sane person who's taking care of the monster. The noble caretaker. How ironic.

Aris Verlac
Patient 503

"You just realized that now? YOU'RE AN EVIL PSYCHO GET AWAY FROM MY FOOD NO MY FOOD IS MINE AND I WILL DISSECT YOU!"
Aris yells, before he was shoved backwards and ended up falling on the stool nearby. He's seating on it and he looks at his arms in wonder, wondering what the fuck just happened.

And here he goes, all of a sudden, something was triggered unexpectedly. The relapse of when he was a kid, the first few days of Hell. He started thrashing and pushing invisible hands away from him, falling on the ground with a loud thud, before Aris rolls away and cowers beside the entrance door, looking like a scared and terrified child. His eyes were wide and brimming with tears, as he clutches his head and yelled until his throat went dry.

Aris Verlac
Patient 503

"No! No! No! I'll behave! Please! Stop! Stop! Don't! Don't! Don't! No! NONONONONONONONO!!!"
A blood curling scream was let out, even if his voice was already at its limits. The scream was really pathetic; hoarse, withering and pitiful. Despite of this, Hephaestion is smiling in glee in the inisde as he rushed towards Aris, trying to calm him down with comforting words without touching him, as it would only worsen. He keeps up his facade even after Aris a visibly calmed down a lot, offering him a glass of cold water that he took from refrigerator after Aris started calming down, and Aris clinging to him like a scared child. He soothes him like a mother would, all the while he's pleased with the sudden turn of events.

Gwen faded a bit, looking shocked and depressed. "I'm so sorry.... I didn't mean to scare you... I won't hurt you, I promise...." She hesitantly went over and crouched down beside Aris, feeling horrible for having scared him like that. Smiling sadly, she began to sing to him.

"Ever close your eyes, ever stop and listen,
Ever feel alive, and there's nothing missing,
You don't need a reason, let it all go on and on.

Let the rain fall down, everywhere around you,
Give into it now, let the day surround you,
You don't need a reason, let the rain go on and on.

What a day, what a day to take to,
What a way, what a way to make it through
What a day, what a day to take to a wild child.

Only take the time, from the helter skelter,
Every day you find, everything's in kilter,
You don't need a reason, let the day go on and on.

Every summer sun, every winter evening,
Every spring to come, every autumn leaving,
You don't need a reason, let it all go on and on.

What a day, what a day to take to,
What a way, what a way to make it through,
What a day, what a day to take to a wild child."

Aris Verlac
Patient 503

"No! No! NO! You'll hurt me, no no no, let me out! Let me out!"
Aris says as he keeps on clinging to Hephaestion, trembling furiously, and the older man calms him down again, hugging him, and patting his head.

"Now Aris, calm down, we're not in the Echo House anymore, we're outside, nothing harmful will come and get you, yeah? Keep your insanity by your side, it'll be a great friend, now hush hush dear child."

Hephaestion Crawford
Loony Hephy
Hephaestion whispers to him softly, and Aris buries his head on his chest, all the while Gwen's singing. Aris's tense shoulder relaxed and he fell asleep in Hephaestion's warmth and comforting gesture.

After his fit, Hephaestion carries the lad upstairs, in a bridal manner, and tucks him to bed, grinning. Ah, Aris is really beautiful when he's having relapses. So vunerable, so weak. It makes the older man break him more. He gets a moleskin notebook and his tursthworthy fountain pen inside the small drawer beside the both beds, with a lamp on top of it, and goes down, placing the notebook and the pen on the counter. He puts the food away, not really hungry, and deciding to save it for later.

"It seems like the song worked, you have a lovely voice Gwen. Ever tried on becoming a singer when you were alive?"

Hephaestion Crawford
Loony Hephy
He asks, smiling at her as he takes a seat on the barstool and opens the notebook, filled with elegant thick scrawl that seems to be almost unreadable.

"Let's see, Thursday, 7:30 P.M. --- Aris had relapse. Same timeline. Puts him back to sleep after his fit. Wounds aren't healing quite nicely as expected."

Hephaestion Crawford
Loony Hephy
He mutters this as he writes it down on a clean sheet of paper, and jolts medications for future reference in regards of Aris's condition.

Gwen nodded. "I wanted to, but I was always so sure that no one would want to listen to my singing. I... I used to have serious self-esteem issues, as well as severe depression, when I was alive. One of the few benefits of being dead, is that depression no longer affects you, apparently, and three years of haunting a bridge gives you a lot of time to think." She sighed softly. "I'm going to see if I can get Lynne to take a look at his wound. If nothing else, she might know someone with a healing ability who can take care of it."

"Perhaps they are just insecure about something they don't have that you have. Humans would convey their jealousy through a lot of methods, including abuse, be it physical or mental."

Hephaestion Crawford
Loony Hephy
Hephaestion muses as he frowns at her. Lynne? He had heard that name before. A woman who's working inside the Echo House. If his memory serves him correctly, she is a nurse there, the one who's taking good care of a patient, and not driving them to insanity. This will be bad; of course, he knows that Aris is beyond saving but there is a slightest possibility that Aris might be cured. And he dislikes people who messes with his plans and toys, especially his favorite ones.

"Ah, I appreciate the offer, but I would rather cure Aris myself; he is, after all, under my care. I would implore their help if needed."

Hephaestion Crawford
Loony Hephy
He says politely, smiling coldly. Of course he'd never ask help, he could handle Aris on his own.

((Um, Aris is upstairs, sleeping on the bed, not downstairs, I think you misread that part? Sorry, I have to point that out, it kind of bugs me though))

((LOL sorry, I did end up misreading... I guess I was more tired than I thought XD I'll edit it out))

Gwen frowned slightly, seeing the coldness in his smile. "If you insist...." She decided to herself to ask Lynne about it anyway, just in case. Putting it to the back of her mind, she focused on what he had said about abuse. "Oh, it wasn't like that, I wasn't abused. I never sang in front of anyone while I was alive. I felt too insecure, so I kept to myself and didn't let anyone get close to me. I didn't even realize I was sabotaging myself until after I was already dead and it was too late to do anything about it."

"Ah, the benefit of doubt. Walls and barriers. Inferiority complex I presume? And to save yourself from it, you committed suicide?"

Hephaestion Crawford
Loony Hephy
He asks, with a little bit of sneering in his tone. This girl died due to suicide, and it's really pathetic of her to do so. Suicide isn't the answer, and not used to regain whatever honor she lost, is she was ever a samurai back then. Suiciding means you're weak to face and hold your ground against reality. There are a lot of ways to die beautifully and tragically, but ending one's life is something unsightly, in his point of view.

"Severe case of depression, combined with extreme loneliness. I wasn't good at making friends, and had no one I could talk to. Bottled things up too much. Got to the point where I thought it would be better for everyone if I disappeared. So I did. Did a good job of it too. Only one person knows the location of my body, and he's from the facility, so it's not like people would believe him if he told them, because most people think everyone from that place is at least as crazy as Aris is. And even if they did, they would have a hell of a time getting to it. As far as anyone I knew in life knows, I just vanished. They don't even know for sure that I'm dead. Although, I'm pretty sure most of them suspect that I am." Gwen shrugged nonchalantly.
