Most I met aren't afraid to show their perverted side.

I don't believe that people who watch anime fit in any singular category. I have many friends who enjoy anime immensely that are everything from a rancher in South-Eastern Arizona to a high school varsity volleyball captain in Eastern North Dakota. They have all been hardcore anime fans since they were young just like me and not even time has changed that. The beauty of anime is that it can be enjoyed by anyone and create friendships between the unlikeliest people. So no I don't believe that people who like anime all act 'strange' or 'weird'.

I don't think they act strange per se but I do think people that watch a lot of anime end up portraying social norms shown in anime/manga. Like sometimes when I say thank you or sorry I bow slightly which is weird here in the west it happeneds rarely but I have done it without thinking a few times. So I guess people can perceive that as strange.

Some anime watchers are stranger than others, that's all I have to say. Just cause your different tho isn't always a bad thing, most nerdy events/anime events I've been to everyone seems super nice. Some might be a bit awkward, but I am fine with that. I think part of it is people just like to do different things, some people like to emerge themselves into anime deeply, when other only lightly while maintain a high amount of social interaction time.

I can give too many examples of people most people would find strange and perfectly normal people who watch anime. Strange is a very broad word, some "normal" things I find very odd, like giving people a hard time cause they are different or whatever.

All fandoms have their own version of strange fans and yet some that are not so strange. Insanity and sanity lies deep within the anime fandom and all other fandoms. It is what it is.

I think most people who watch anime aren't crazy, it's just that the most noticeable ones tend to be crazy.

For me I think it is weird people tend to be the awesome people, and weird the way saying it, sounds like a bad thing, but honestly weird means original, and original means unique, I would rather be weird, then be normal There are the otaku people, I would not call my self an otaku, but I understand them, I don't appreciate the pervy anime watches for my tastes, but I realize that is a large percentage, it honestly just depends, Imo there are those who watch it because, in the end anime is most of the time, super awesome, and some even reach the ears of non-anime watchers, just recently my dad, he knows I watch anime but doesn't watch it himself, just texted me out of blue, and asked, "Have you heard of Attack On Titan" I kinda laughed at this seeing as he has judged anime sorta meanwhile with out realizing it, getting into some of the most newer popular animes. In the end, it varries from person to person, some people watch it just to experience Japanese colture, some watch it just because of cute animated girls, and some watch it because anime has different plots then your basic tv, and the animation can be amazing at times, In the end i don't think its fair to say ALL people who watch anime are strange, but there is some that are, and honestly, it just depends on that person, as for me I am perfectly normal.... LOL jk, I am not an otaku, I am just your average watcher.

Yeah, most people who do watch anime are weird. I find that most, whenever I meet them, suffer from social retardation.

social retardation?? like what?

Lack of ability to get their point across clearly in a verbal conversation, extreme shyness around other people, tend to say things that are awkward in the extreme, inability to find common ground with those who are not into anime or games, lack of personal grit, easily discouraged in social activities, etc. The list goes on.

I belonged to the anime club at my high school, and while it makes me sound like a dick, I was the most normal person there. I got a friend of mine to interview the club leader and write an article in the school newspaper. That was a pretty big deal, because no one knew about us and it was a big chance to get the ball rolling. Instead, the leader didn't know what to tell my friend in the interview. The article turned out okay, but it could have been way better if she, the leader, had only knew what she wanted to say. All she could do was point at the TV and exclaim at how cool it was. But why was it cool? What made it cool or interesting beyond the superficial? What did the club do in terms of group activities? She couldn't provide an answer that ever sounded compelling or interesting. My friend complained to me that she didn't have much to say, and that the whole interview was incredibly awkward. It made it a pain in the ass for him to even write the thing. This same phenomenon applied to everyone in the entire club. The only other normal person there was some dude who played his PSP the whole time of the meetings. Even though we didn't play the same games or necessarily watch the same shows, I could actually talk to the guy.

College wasn't really much different. The only one I would have considered an anime fan was some kinky slut who somehow did not posses the ability to hold a long conversation with anyone whatsoever. The only other people I watched anime with were my roomies, because I introduced them to it. And while we all enjoyed countless shows together, I wouldn't consider them anime fans since they hardly ever watch any on their own initiative.

Meh, everyone is strange in their own way. Excessively normal people are strange, too. You're weird. I'm weird.

Normalcy is all about perspective so don't worry about it too much.

I think its mostly the people who are like,
brand new to anime.
The whole "weeb" stage ya know.
But sometimes they never grow out of it.
