First off let me say, I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong place as it is my first time creating a topic.

On to topic.

I want to hear some thoughts on this, like the title section says should Crunchyroll have a downloads section for premium members.

I will use myself as an example for this question. I have a computer that can handle 1080p graphics but my internet can only handle 480p and not even that sometimes when others in the house are using the wifi, and that gets on my nerves that I have the technology play 1080p but not the connection speed, meaning I can't get the best quality that my computer can handle that I pay for.

I'm not 100% positive, but I would venture a guess that other people might have a problem similar to this, and maybe the other way around also people having fast connection speed but a computer that cant handle processing of the graphics so maybe if it was downloaded they could get better quality( I don't know anything about downloading shows or whats needed really to play videos on a computer, I stream every thing so the latter part of the argument could be invalid and I would have no clue).

While I do get this could potentially allow shows to get pirated, it just sucks for the rest of us who have the ability but can't get what we want out of it.

So that's why I thought that I should bring this up.

I am very sorry for any mistakes or if anything looks off I have been awake awhile and need to sleep.

While I would really like the idea, I doubt it will ever happen because of potential piracy reason. And People with great speeds could buy membership for few months, download everything and then leave?

That's why I mentioned piracy, I knew this would be a long shot but I thought why not put the Idea out there.

Aye, piracy would be the main issue in this, so rather than have download for premium members, why not have titles available for purchase download instead, and for all members?

Maybe if they had a time limit of what you wanted to download comparable to what it would cost to buy the full set. Say you are a premium member so you pay 6.95 a month. Have that go for a solid 6 or 7 months and that's 40 bucks which in most cases is enough to buy a standard blu-ray edition of an anime. If it worked like that and it got reset after every series download, I could see that working as unless you actually hack the website you wouldn't be able to pirate from here. It all depends on your premium level (regular or all access) as well as if you pay months, every 3 months, every 6 months or once a year. So if you are an all-access that does it monthly it would take 3 months instead of 6 or 7 to "buy" or download a series of this site.

It's doable but might be a little complicated and we don't know how the Japanese government would feel about it so I dunno, that's just my two-cents on the subject.

That would still cause an issue for people uploading what they bought online.

Piracy is one of the many reasons why we can't have nice things.

It was a stupid topic that I probably should not have brought up because of piracy crap. Though I just wanted to get it out there and see what others had to say.

That's pretty tricky. Plus you're getting what you pay for with the subscription so you can get new episodes every week. So technically you are already using your purchase so that 40 bucks you mentioned as an example is already spoken for, as it goes to paying for new episodes.

That would be lovely, but it's literally impractical.

Yep, essentially the biggest issue with what I just posted and knew while posting would be that you're basically double buying for the price of one and essentially screwing over the actual sales release. Hence why it would never work unless CR decided to double their prices per month and include this option (please don't do this CR, I need money for food )

That is true.

Also eating once a day's not that bad just make it a little bigger than a regular meal, as long as I have dinner every night I'm fine, what I'm not fine with is going without anime

You can't expect to pay less than $10 a month and be given the privilege to download so much anime.

Downloading and streaming are essentially the same thing just that one requires constant internet connection, and the other doesn't but you would probably need a huge hard drive.

plus It wouldn't make a difference if I was downloading or streaming I would still be paying for the same library of anime so i could watch it at any time I liked. just in a different way

I think it would kill the sales for dvds and blu-rays.

Wifi connection speed slows down if the hotspot is crowded, so I suggest hooking up an ethernet cable instead of connecting to wifi. This, however, does not guarantee that you'll be able to watch on 1080p smoothly. If I may ask, what's your connection speed? If it's below the average(3.0mbps), then there's no fixing that. I'm sorry. The only solution I could think of is a player that will buffer when paused.
