Lets look at this question objectively, what does One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach have that Hunter x Hunter doesn't?
A Dub

Without that no anime will get a foothold in the west, no matter how good it is, especially if it's not ongoing (HXH is ending soon)

All in all Fairy Tail is more of a member of the "Big 4" than HXH.

Has Hunter X Hunter reached a point in both popularity and length that it can stand among the big three?

Personally i think it has. I think the fandom has reached a point in which it can stand tall next to the giants of Anime.

So should the big three, now be made the big four?

Finding a single piece of merchandise is still a chore and nearly impossible. But it's better than the "Big 3" that is for sure.

Isn't the shonen big 3 supposed to just be the top selling manga of any given time? Which would mean right now that it's One Piece, Attack on Titan, and Naruto, right?

I wouldn't consider Attack on Titan as a Big 3 just by the sale figures. It's more like a Western term that designates long running shounen series that have been adapted from manga that spawned many merchandise.

I think the big three should be: Naruto Shippuden, Hunter x Hunter and Sword Art Online II. So yes, Hunter x Hunter should be in it. Why isn't anyone thinking of adding Sword Art Online II? It got more than 1000 votes in less than a week.

Oh for fuck sake...

It certainly is popular.
