I can somewhat agree, but I'm also a optimist so I'm sure things can still change for the better.

I'm sure they can, but the question is will they? The only thing we can do now is speculate and hope that it does change for the better.

It'd be pretty cool for normal people to live in space. Maybe Amazon Prime will still do cheap one-day shipping to the moon.

Aw finally..we get to talk about the future! Was there no topic like this? Anyways!
I think the future will be so awesome! With virtual reality taking place(with the Oculus Rift), I can't imagine how the future would be! Makes me jealous!

For the future, you can either hope or you can shape.

I really want to get into virtual reality, we have a deadline. 2022 ... so

The 1000 year war will rage on, generations will grow up knowing only fighting, poverty, famine and disease. Amidst the chaos that was once mankind a new generation of children will emerge at peace with one another. Disgusted by their great-great-great-etc parents war and their own mother and fathers' willingness to continue it they band together in a way no one ever thought possible. As the youths approach the age at which they are to be drafted into the vast militaries every single one of this new wave sits down exactly where they are and place their hands, exalted, on the earth feeling her feeble pulse. They know it is all the fault of humans that their beautiful planet is dying. Those younger than them react immediately, joining their older brothers and sisters in their sorrow. The elder generations are shocked at first. Many deny the silent message, lashing out violently in anger, but nothing can stop the youths who react calmly and without a word to the senseless acts. Soon, though, the oldest of the adults, from many years of experience of death and disease see what their grandchildren are trying to say and tears spring to their eyes. The guilt is so great they are brought to their knees, sobbing for the earth, animals and other humans they've betrayed. The remaining adults, seeing that they are alone try and reason with one another, to rationalize all that has taken place. But the attempts are feeble, their entire world is crumbling around them. Everything they know is suddenly wrong. The youths, seeing the transformation take place, stand and in a singular act of love embrace them. The world is at peace for the first time in many millenia. The tears of the world population quench the thirst of the parched earth. The violence ends, slinking away knowing it will never be wanted again. The humans feel their spirits ascend to new heights. The world is reborn an ultimate utopia of peace and love.

Who knows what will happen. I'm hoping for space travel, because that's what needs to happen a 1000 or so years into the future because Earth and the solar system will not last forever. Also, I would like flying cars, space colonies, and teleportation so that we can do just about anything. In any case, it will be quite obvious that there will be scientific breakthroughs, but which ones that remains to be seen.
