Do you think anime settings are more beautiful than real life settings?

I generally think so. In many anime I see, the setting seems to be more brighter, colorful, and peaceful than in real life. The sun always seems to have beautiful rays of light, and parkland/grassland seems to be more abundant. My neighborhood feels like a gloomy concrete jungle compared to the neighborhoods in anime.

Do you guys think anime settings are more beautiful as well?

I think real life is beautiful too, we just don't get to see it everyday, because we live in these... congested areas... full of houses, cars, telephone wires... etc. These things ruin the natural beauty and we live in a fixed place. That makes it even harder to appreciate.

But if we were like characters in anime, where we can go on adventures around the world and don't have to be in a fixed place all the time; I think there are a lot of real life landscapes that can take your breath away...

I don't want to sound like an asshole, but some houses are so ugly. it's like people don't care about the aesthetic beauty. They'll put old tyres, cardboard boxes in front of their houses like it's a trash place... thus ruining the natural state of beauty. (We obviously don't see this in anime, because they omit these stuffs).

But if you watch Flowers of Evil, they animate it like real life... lots of ugly things.

I'm on many acres of beautiful land (ranches) but rarely experience it due to cruddy weather conditions. Still beautiful to look at.

You can achieve all the freedom and adventures of anime just by becoming extremely wealthy lol. Rich people can do damn near anything.

I agree on the topic of many people tossing tidiness and aesthetic appeal to the wind. But anime/real life can be cool if you capitalize on it; grimy streets can feel like a cowboy bebop universe. Pretty places can feel like Ghibli or your average Slice of Life. See how awesome perspective is?

It really depends where you are; there are a lot of places in this world that can just take your breath away. I really want to go travel around the world at some point, but if i were to compare the settings in anime with where i live currently i would say that anime makes it look a lot nicer than it actually is. But nature in itself is much more beautiful in real life, like when the sky when its all blue/dark red or when the stars come out at night. I bought a new telescope recently just so i could stargaze more often, not a lot of people realize how beautiful the sky is at night and take the time to look at it. In my opinion, if you look carefully there's beautiful things all around you.

Watch Nagi no Asukara. I stopped paying attention to the plot and characters and focused entirely on the world art. Although real life is equally as breath taking. The world is, understatedly, expansive. It's just a matter of finding those locations with complementary lighting, weather, and effort. One difference I suppose is that anime always includes fantastic, tall, and contrary structures that defy architecture and engineering, contrasted with an equally impressive landscape.

Sometimes more interesting. However, if you put yourself in a real setting with something magnificent that not everyone gets to see every day...

I have to say No.

CGI is destroying the image of every anime ever.

Anyway onto the question at hand.

Yes. Because I feel that is what it is meant to do.

Even when you notice when a show is based off a real world location, they generally will leave out some of the clutter that would be seen if you took a picture in the real world and compared it too it's anime counterpart.

anime settings can often be more ideallic ie the sun always hits the perfect angle the trees are always in full bloom but when you hit those ideal conditions in the real world it makes it all the more special and beautiful

Well yeah just like houses in movies are always humongous and they never say bye on the phone.

Non Non Biyori.

Since anime is the world of dreams,
only the best of any setting is usually animated to make it beautiful,

while in the real world,
everything is there to be seen- both the good and bad.

I think it's more beautiful, but anime settings tend to look a bit artificial.

As long as New Zealand exists, I'm going to have to go with Real Life.

Of course the anime versions are going to look better in that picture when all the real life versions are photos taken on a grey, cloudy day.
