Just wondering how many other people have noticed "suspicious" accounts on crunchyroll as of late. Ones that in particular that have been made within the last 6 days, but somehow have amassed over 100+ friends.

When asked questions, they get extremely confrontational, and most of them say they are "not anime fans". So exactly, why are you on an anime streaming site?

Alot of these profiles seem to also change their display pictures to different tumblr girls, and or google image results for "emo girls" every hour or so. I know this, because one of the pictures was of a girl i actually know in Toronto, who has had multiple issues with "fakes". These accounts almost always have each other added as-well.

I dont want to post the names here, as i am not interested in flaming.

So what are your opinions on these suspicious accounts? Fakes disguising themselves as various people, in order to phish information from the unaware? or are they just that? suspicious accounts?

Anyway, was just wondering if anyone else has taken notice of this.

Stay safe, and be careful who you give information about your self to.

The only time I notice fake accounts is when I post my guest pass. Tha'ts why I'm no longer posting them up, now I just give them to my friends who don't have a premium membership.

Where are you finding these "fake" accounts? are they posting in forums? How do we know you are not fake?

Lmfao xD indeed, how do you. I could in-fact be a 80 year old reptilian.

No not necessarily posting in the forums. The ones i have encountered, have been adding me. They are normally 2 day old accounts with a massive amount of friends 100+.

I think the term "fake" i used, was for a lack of a better term, they are more than fake, they seem to be phishers. as they would say.

I've noticed some a couple with between 0-100 CR Points saying anime is crappy weeaboo shit, or posting those virus ridden website links and the like, but nothing frequent.

There is software designed to do what you are seeing. I noticed the provocative questions those new accounts ask in the forums which might be information gathering but they might just be new members who have not read the forums enough to have a sense of history. So yes I noticed it too preferring to choose option 2, new members without history and not something else. At least they are buying accounts and supporting CR in order to post.

"tin foil hat comments:" To answer the OP observations, it would be interesting would to do a link analysis on CR's logs. CR would notice if someone was scrapping the forums regularly which is against the TOS as I read it.

Sounds like a problem. Of course, that's to be expected from about any social networking site. I suggest you report each account, and let the moderators handle it.

Yeah but I can usually tell if there's a person behind it so I don't worry about it.
A person's a person, no matter how fake.

If you see an account that you believe is another user, or multiple accounts owned by the same person, then please report the account for that reason, as it is against the rules to own multiple accounts.
However, that being said, I have not seen a rise in it myself.
