Which one is worse?

So the two of them are similar in a way. They will refuse to watch anything that is not mainstream. (And it's not my assumption. I recommended some really good stuff to some of them and they never watched them.)

The overhypers are worse in my opinion.
They overrate whatever they watch, without comparing it to other shows. Big 3 fanboys are the same, but here's the difference. When people ask for anime recommendation, of course the overhypers are the first ones there. And when I comment and recommend other stuff, they will start dissing the anime I recommended, which they haven't even seen. They will be like "No. Dude, watch Attack on Titan. It's way better than the other ones." And if I say something to that, they will use popularity to try to prove that AoT is so much damn better than all the other stuff.

They will call themselves huge anime fans and then a lot of them will not spend a penny on it. Probably go on some pirate site to watch it over and over until another mainstream show appears. How would I know? Look at the sales.
Attack on Titan sold 37K copies in first week. The Monogatari series sells 30K's. And way more people watched AoT than the Monogatari series. (Love Live has the craziest fans. hands down.)

At least a lot of the big 3 fanboys buy the manga. It takes more than just watching it to be considered a fanboy.

Seems like you hate Mainstream anime?

Anyways, I think both are pretty annoying, heck, even people who only watch stuff that's not popular, are annoying. It's better to be open minded, and give everything a shot!

I can agree with the overhypers thing. The overhyped fans of stuff like AOT and SAO make me not want to get involved in any of it. Once things get overhyped, I don't feel like watching it. Which is the reason why I dropped AOT at episode 4/5. (Plus it really wasn't exciting me).

People who are fairly new to anime will definitely over-hype mainstream shows. They're new to it and they only know what's popular. That's how the world works. I'm pretty sure you were a big Bieber fan 3 years ago until you noticed that better music exists. '

How does not spending even a single penny on anime not make you a fan? So you're fanboy, and anyone who doesn't do the same thing as you can't be called one (?) Everyone who calls themselves a fan is a fan indeed. Some just don't love it as much as others do.

Different strokes for different folks. Each person has something that either draws them into an anime/manga, or pushes them away from it.

RWBY is a perfect example. Many people will write it off because of the animation alone; It's not the super modern animation format that people are accustomed to (and don't bother with the its not anime, its web comic, blahblahblah). I find that the animation is its biggest downfall, excluding the fight choreography -- That tends to be superb. Its music tends to be awesome, but of course, this is a personal opinion. Others think that the animation is super, because it is different. The main reason I stick with it is due to the music, the fight choreography, and because the characters are upbeat enough that it leaves a positive feeling. Ruby and Nora being perfect examples of "upbeat and uplifting".

Just because you think one way, does not mean everyone else has to. Respect others for what they are; fans. Just because they have only just begun, or have limited viewership doesn't matter. They are at least interested in a segment of something, just the same as you.

my opinion, I say Overhypers come off as worse, one of the main reasons why I avoid anything related to Attack on titan and still don't wanna watch the show.

Overhypers are definitely worse in my opinion. They'll compare every anime to the anime they're hyping, and nothing is ever better. For example, I was talking to someone not too long ago and I was explaining the synopsis of Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and they say "Oh, so it's Attack on Titan with magic" No, please stop. However, overyhypers in the sense that they really like an anime and want to tell the world about it is fine by me. People loving something extremely isn't all that annoying, until they make it annoying.

Big 3 fanboys are pretty annoying too, but easier to deal with. Whenever I come across them, they always seem like they're "more obsessed with anime than everyone" which is pretty icky being that they've only seen 2 or 3 of the mainstream ones. But usually they grow out of that phase anyway.

Overhypers are worse because they jump up and praise an anime before it even premieres and say dumb things like, "This show will save anime". Also, they tend to spoil things for others before it is shown in the adaptation. I don't even go in half the discussion threads anymore for that same reason.

I watched all of SAO and AOT without having to talk to or hear from a single fan. Unless the premis of the show doesn't appeal to you that's not doing you any favors to avoid a show because of others who watch it. Some of those same people also love shows you like, would you stop liking the show just because you found that out?

Definitely hate that, but for me even worse is people on the other side, the elitist. They're the ones who say, "this sucks, it's X without the Y so no one can possibly enjoy this unless there's something wrong with them."

Yep pretty much decided I'll be watching Akame ga Kill! without looking at the forum, apparently only manga readers are allowed there.

Not necessarily 'fairly new' people. Then how come there are way more of them than others?

Bieber? I'm a guy and I'm straight so I don't like him anyways. And I don't even keep up with mainstream music.

It's horrible that these people call themselves huge fans and they don't spend any money to support the industry. I'm not even saying you gotta do everything legally as in buy the BD/DVD, buy anime music CD, buy manga, light novel and all that. (But I seriously do that myself.) If you like a series so much, the least you can do is buy some goods.
