It is Spiral: The Bonds of Reasoning!

TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqaxwRrJ5F8

This anime is such a great psychological thriller. It is so mysterious...more than any other anime. I love the soundtrack and all the characters. I will mention that the anime does not have a complete ending because at the time the manga was still going. Still, I just love the well developed characters, they are so intereresting.

My next choice would be Death Note, Higurashi, then Monster!

When you say those options all that's really prominent are a few, like Death note. Psycho pass for the win though. I will be forever scarred in my kidney by that first episode.

Monster by Naoki Urasawa, It felt really realistic. It had a great soundtrack which I listen from time to time and a good cast. watching Johan and Dr. tenma was one hell of a ride.I thought it was a true masterpiece. I hear there's a live action TV show in the works by HBO so I'm really looking forward to that.

Oh my gosh, I was going to mention that! Guess I'm not the only one who rated that a 10 out of 10 lol. The last time I watched that series was like... wow way back when. Seven years I think. But I agree, I loved everything about that anime. The dialogue was superb, the characters were all unique, and each episode just got you pumping one after the other.

To be honest, it was the first one I surfed up on myanimelist.net (LOL). One of the best mystery/thriller animes I've ever watched, and I've watched many others back in the day.

Back to topic though lol
My favorite crime thriller or mystery anime (is a hard one to choose). I'd probably have to go with Monster though because everything about it was just... genius. Himitsu Revelation is another really great crime/thriller - about a cop who mostly solves bizarre murders using some kind of a brain scanning device. Each episode is separated into really interesting cases. The credits music really fits well with the show. It's kind of sad really.

I've never really watched much crime anime, but I have read a lot of the genre in manga books. If you're interested in that, I would go for Kindaichi Case Files (my all-time fave and first detective/crime manga I ever read), Pet Shop of Horrors, and Bizenghast (phenomenal drawing; storyline is also superb).

Naoki Urasawa's "Monster"
Critique on the nature of man & good vs evil. How much is any one human life worth? Heavy-set question that begins a long journey for Dr. Kenzo Tenma.

2nding Ghost in the Shell; it's complex on so many levels and an absolute joy to watch. Great atmosphere, world, characters and overall mythos/mythology. Awesome and mysterious cyberpunk.

Ghost Hunt - Thrilling in the supernatural sense -- those that have curiosity and respect for the transient ephemeral qualities of life as well as the supernatural beliefs we uphold (and thus grant power to). Interesting anime, more entertainment than practical; good fun if you've ever enjoyed a show like, "Most Haunted", "Ghost Hunters" or "A Haunted/Haunting".
