Wayyy too many episodes to single out one as my favorite. But the Death Note parody one (episode 26 I think) was the first one to make me laugh so much I almost died.

If I had to choose only one it would have to be the video below. As for what I like in an episode (Is what I think you're asking) is a mix of comedy and serious swordplay.

Oh boy...I JUST finished the series and I still find it hard to pick my FAVORITE episode...I'd need to put a lot of thought and time into this. Making a top 10 would probably be easier.

I can say that the Wii parody cracked me up like crazy. The Swordfish-chan gal game has to be made one day.

I kinda want to get into Gintama but i can't get through first episode... lol
Is there a single episode that can stand on it's own as a motivation for me to get into it?

I haven't finished it yet, but my favorite one so far has probably been either the second half of episode 111. It was hilarious but so sweet at the same time. I almost cried because of it.

But back to the topic: My favorite ARC would be the popularity poll arc.

-2-3-1- TOTALLY AGREE

They may have taken the d1ck jokes too far in the end, but it's still non-stop in your face comedy.

Favorite Arc = Shinsengumi Rebellion

Favorite Comedy Arc = Perhaps the Scandal Arc

I'd like to mention Courtesan of a Nation though, the revelations were too strong.

Love the food battles too, episode 25 was the first, and there was that crab one at 2xx which was pretty good and but not quite at 25's level (which is probably why I can't remember it).

My favorite episode is without a doubt, Episode 216: I can't remember a damn thing about the factory tour. It really has that classic Gintama feel, with great comedic timing, a decent amount of the A-List crew showing up, including the lovable Madao-San. In a single episode, they develop a running joke, expand upon that joke, create an entire history for the joke, and build it up to a point where it can bring a man to tears. When I hear the word Patriot, this is the first thing that comes to mind and this episode never fails to get a chuckle out of me no matter how many times I watch it. "A job is supposed to be painful. That's why it's important to look for pain you enjoy." and other memorable quotes like that are one of the main reasons you watch Gintama, so you can learn to live your everyday life standing tall and doing your best. My only criticism is that Katsura was once again on standby.

I have to cheat and give a few because I really can't choose one:

Episode 99 "Life and Video Games are Full of Bugs."
Episode 142 "Life is About Making Consecutive Decisions."
Episode 166 "Two is Better than One. Two People are Better than One."
Episode 180 "The More Precious the Burden, the Heavier and More Difficult it is to Shoulder."
Episode 183 "Popularity Polls can Burn to Hell."
