How much side quest do you do before you finish the main?
Obviously this isn't for power gamers that haven't realised they can skip everything by clicking the credits at the main menu.

Hm, typically. I get distracted by side quests so I sometimes end up doing most of the sidequests first, before getting any of the main quests done.

I like side quest, they usually give me stuff that will help so I play all the side quest I can before moving on to the main one.... maybe that's why it took so lone to finish oblivion's main story.... I do know of a few people who play the main quest then all the side quests but really there's no point to it since all the stuff you'll get then will be very low level

I complete every side quest available before tackling the main quests.
Probably since I have a tendency to over prepare (level-grind, stockpile items/equipment, polish up skills and tactics, etc.) before taking a challenge.
Even though I spend needless hours (or days) on them, it makes the main quest considerably easier in the long run.

It depends on the game.
I get distracted by side quests very easily- so it makes it near enough impossible to complete the main quests in Skyrim :/

Like others, it really depends on the game.

I usually never zerg to the end, even if it's early in the morning (Do you want to finish the story off when you're on a high or when you're refreshed after a luxurious nap the next night?). Generally, I usually am the one that explores all the zones and does all the things. Everything that I can kill will die, all quests will be completed, bugged or not, and all teh lewtz shall be mine. If I wanted to zerg an ending, I can always find a let's play series on the youtubz.

I never go hardcore though. I just do it when I feel like it. The ub3r casual reporting for duty.

I pretty much always get lost in the side quests. I try to do every single one I can find. I hate when I have unfinished quests (the perpetual quests in Skyrim KILL me).

It depends what game it is. In Skyrim its pretty equal, but in a game like Dragon's Dogma or Persona i really don't care about the side quests.

it all depends on game quest rewards and how intersting the side quests are

Depends for me as well. Most of the time I get bored with side quests.
