I was talking to someone recently on what brands of water I preferred, and they said to me it all tastes the same to them. I drink water often (probably 2 litres a day?) and in my opinion can distinguish good waters from bad. To me, some are denser than others and the various combinations of minerals give them different tastes.

So what does everyone think - does water taste the same to you, or different, or you just don't care?

Not really and lake water is not that fresh to me at all. Rainwater is good as long as the environment is clean, but if it has a little bit of bacteria, then I would just store it in a PET bottle and leave it in the sun for 6 hours.

No....the difference being is that when I'm thirsty...water tastes soo good. If I'm not thirsty, water doesn't taste anything to me.

The tap water in my area tastes differently from the bottled water in my area. I prefer to drink bottled water because it tastes better than the tap water in my area.

No, I don't think they taste the same. Bottled water can taste like plastic, tap water may clearly taste metallic or muddy(ish), spring water can taste mineralike and "clear" at the same time, filtered water may subtly taste like activated coal, etc... My local spring water is quite different from the hard water (specifically calcium) that comes from my tap.

Different water tastes different to me. I prefer just plain purified water. I really don't like the taste of mountain and spring water, but I can put up with it to be polite if its given to me at an event or if I'm visiting someone. I will not under any circumstances (unless I am literally dying of dehydration) drink tap water. Tap water is plain disgusting. If I'm out about I find coffee shops have the best tasting water as they tend to be triple filtered~

I do taste slight differences in water even if it's just from different taps. Unless the water is distilled, there are going to be impurities that add some sort of taste to it.

If you buy a bottle of water from store, it will usually have minerals / other stuff added to it to make it taste different and the place where the water is from probably has an effect on the taste too.

I think whether you notice the differences is largely dependent on your sense of taste.
