My water from the tap tastes a bit metallic, while bottle water generally tastes a bit more pure. I can also taste differences between brands of water.

No.

I grew up on well water before we started getting water from Lake Michigan and there is a definite difference. It's odd, but the water from the lake is slightly sweet. A lot of water tastes slightly sweet to me.

Umm... I was kayaking down the Chicago River once and it got tipped right around Michigan Ave. Bridge. I got a mouth full of Chicago river water and was sick for the next two days with severe dehydration. That water did not taste good at all.

I always drink filtered water, specifically a filter that can remove flouride. If not filtered tap water I drink Grapefruit or Plain Perrier Mineral water.

So, no. Not all water tastes the same. Well water isn't that bad when you grow up on it and mineral water has a similar, but much more subtle, flavor profile. Lake Michigan water, and a lot of other waters taste a bit sweet to me, and Chicago River water tastes like death.

I would also argue water doesn't always taste the same for me. Typically, water is mostly influenced for me by the type of water it is mineral/tap/pure, etc. Also it somehow is really dependent on the substance containing the water. For example, a jug or a cup could greatly impact the overall taste of the water, for the better or worse by the leftover contents or scent carried out by the container.

Bottled (unflavored) water tastes the same to me. I like sparking waters. Those can have different flavors based on the mineral content and how much CO2 is in them.

Tap water..... Only in emergencies do I drink tap water. Tap water's flavor varies the greatest depending on where you live, how the local utility processes the water, how old the pipes are (leaks bring dirt and other crap into the pipe and affects the taste of water - as well as the safety of drinking that water). Well water is that way, too.

Conclusion: Unless it's sparkling water / sparkling mineral water, all (unflavored) bottled water tastes the same (to me).

Tap water has different flavors depending on what town you live in. Well water is that way too.

On a side note: I was told by a nurse in a hospital that pure distilled water is actually bad for you. It draws all of the minerals out of your teeth and bones and weakens your teeth and bones. That's what she said. My instructor in school said that pure distilled water is bad for machinery, because it causes corrosion the fastest. It causes metals to dissolve over time.

God no. Tap water is cold and refreshing, bottled water is far too warm and sparkling water is just plain horrible. All tap water tastes the same to me though.

Yes, I can taste the difference. I don't like bottled water. I can't explain why... it taste... bottled lol

Tap water is good, but only if it's cold. I don't like drinking it immediately after pouring it down from the tap. It taste like minerals a bit too much, but after cooling it in the refrigerator it's perfect ^O^
