Short answer. Yes I have.

Was stalked and harassed for 3 or 4 days. Every comment I made was downvoted, and constant private messages. Only issue is... I didn't care enough. They eventually went away, mainly because I didn't care, and my personal information wasn't at stake.

I think everyone has been trolled before and that doesn't count as cyber-bullying.

I consider if cyber bullying if:
-It has been ongoing
-The threats are distressing and severe
-There is the element of duress or undue influence

If I use the standards above, It shouldn't be happening to most people who currently claim it is happening to them because:
-Nobody is forcing them to continuously read and respond
-It's easy to walk away and there are no physical threats of actual harm
-Everyone learns that lame 'sticks and stones' saying
-It's very easy to seek help compared to when it's in person

True cyberbullying, to me, is basically ongoing distressing behavior online that you CAN'T ESCAPE with reasonable actions. This makes it pretty hard to establish, IMO. In blackmail cases, I can see this happening, and it is a legit concern. Other people, however, are basically just feeding trolls, judging by what I've been seeing when people talk about cyber bullying.

I don't consider mere common harassment or irritation to be bullying. And being offended because someone else is being rude or disagreeable is even further from bullying. Geez, people diagnose themselves with mental diseases and now everyone claims they are being bullied. Maybe those self-diagnosed mental disorders are real.

This, this and this.

I agree completely.

Pretty much this. While Cyber-bullying can happen, the frequency of actual cyber-bullying is a lot less than we're lead to believe. When you take into consideration that you can just as easily block people on the internet without an issue and considering that you can just as easily choose not to respond (Not to mention take it in stride because as mentioned above "Sticks and Stones"). From my point of view, Actual cyber-bullying is only when it's one or more people doing it repetitively and when it can't be avoided for reasons (such as they go to the same school as their cyber-bully. Their cyber-bully also happens to bully them at school not to mention is probably be popular on facebook and other forms of social media and is able to spread rumors and whatnot).

It's easy to make threats on the internet, but it's much like being threatened outside of the internet. Unless they have something substantial that can actually have an impact on you, threats can mostly just be laughed at. If someone threatens to spread your nude pictures though, and you know you've taken them and were stupid enough to send them to someone who happens to be friends with your bully/cyber-bully, then that's not really an empty threat. But that aside, there aren't really many "distressing" threats that can really have a major impact.

Easy to laugh at threats, that's what a lot of streamers did, PhantomL0rd is a good example of someone who didn't take a threat seriously. It was quite obvious he thought no harm would actually occur. Nowadays there's a lot of tools out there to really harm people over the net, the SWAT thing is a good example. Another is that employer's nowadays google potential hires. If someone gets your name and photo you could be a real world of hurt now. Did you know how easy it is to get someone's IP address off Skype? There are so many channels out there it's ridiculous. You just have to look for them. Normal people do not use VPNs and go all out to protect themselves because the internet provides such a strong sense of false security. All it will ever take is one persistent asshole and it doesn't have to be someone you even know.

Man this thread is still messed up lol

I'm well aware there are a lot of tools out there available to people who really wish to ruin a person's life but a bully doesn't set out to do that. They don't set out with the clear goal of ruining a person's life. They do it for kicks. They do what they find entertaining. Ruining a person's life isn't among what they consider fun. Bullies just delight in harassing someone. They don't need to get a rise of the person, they just need to be able to harass that person. Sure, the internet provides a strong sense of false security and sure it's easy for people to do all sorts of things with your picture and name but naturally you have to have problems if you're hellbent on destroying any potential future a person may have.

Some do try and ruin someone's life for kicks though, other times as payback. Bullies are the epitome of taking things too far after all.

The YouTube gaming community is brutal. I've had mine and my boyfriends faces photoshopped into pornos and other things over CALL OF DUTY lol but unlike most people, I brush it off. It's the Internet and the block button is a wonderful invention.

Then I'm confused what to make of your previous statement unless it was online sarcasm I failed to read.
