It's all good man, let's just leave it at that. Like I said, different interpretations. In the end it's all about Nico. Let us bond over our mutual inability to draw her in SIF(unless you've gotten lucky recently).

I'm never lucky, but always victorious. I already have a couple Nico SR's in JP, but once i get that UR in EN, i'm throwing a party.

So this is a thread about having a crush on an anime character?

I somewhat understand. There are a few, only a handful unfortunately, of anime characters, both male and female, that hold a special place in my heart. Either I wanted to be like those characters (usually males but some females too) or I wish that more people were actually like those characters.

An example would be :
Dianehla from Heroic Age. I really love and respect her character. She has a really kind and forgiving personality, but as the series goes on you can see she is a bit emotionally frail as well. She ends up eventually though growing as a character and taking charge of what she must do. I kind of consider her the true main character of Heroic Age. I suppose you can say I have a bit of a crush on her, but I think it is more an admiration that someone managed to write a strong female character without at the same time making her have either a masculine personality or be simple fanservice. This also applies to Saki from Shin Sekai Yori.

Note - Dianehla was voice actress Ishikawa Yui's (Mikasa from AoT) first role.

It's become harder for me to get attached to characters though because well thought out characters with balanced personalities are a rarity these days. We either have simple tropes, fanservice characters, or moeblobs which bewitch people with their stupid little idiosyncrasies.

Although I saw you mention Sakura from CCS. I recently watched that for the first time and that show just made me happy. Clamp are definitely my favorite for shoujo stuff, they never go with the overboard handsome hero who solves all the girl's problems, they always keep their characters nice and balanced. Even if they do sometimes have sad endings.

Sorry, I can't relate. Even as a kid I drew a fine line between fiction and reality, and the same holds true even now. Yes, I did idolize anime characters such as Sora Naegino from Kaleido Star due to their incredible persistence and drive to achieve their goals, which in turn inspired me to achieve something great with my life as well (engineer FTW). But having anime "crushes" or "waifu"? Sorry, not into that kind of thing.

I don't know if I can say I truly relate, but I think i understand.
So having a crush on a fictional character=Otaku. I just thought Otaku was used to means anime fan. You know like Brony means fan of MLP FiM. The terms is there to save from you having to say a mouth full(Try to say in fewer words as possible)
So if I have a crush on Holo, I'm an Otaku? She hasn't probably made that big of an impact on me like Nico did for you, but I do buy Spice and Wolf merchandise and she is my wallpaper for Firefox, my avatar for CR and Google, and my wallpaper on my phone. If that's the case then I guess I can relate to a degree.
Still respect for what you said man.

Thanks, nah there's no pre-defined rules for exactly at which point you "cross over" to Otaku that I know of. It's actually kind of just an insult for people way into their hobby in Japan, but we've kinda taken the phrase elsewhere to mean what you've said as far the anime "fandom".It might just be a degree of extremity for some people...I'm not really sure to be honest. That's cool you like Holo though, I like her a lot too. My phone wallpapers, Firefox theme, youtube, steam, PC Wallpaper, and my whole CR account is pretty much Nico or NicoMaki as well

What ever works. I am pretty sure I understand. Just don't let it eat all your money and time. Although compared to some of the real women I've dated, anime goods and stuff can be a much cheaper crush.

I really enjoyed reading that. Even though I'm not sure I completely understand where you're coming from (although I'm just 16. The future awaits), it was an inspirational read
Definitely have had otaku crushes though
Again I enjoyed reading it

Thanks, that's nice it inspired you although...I'm not sure this fit of madness is something to be proud of so don't feel bad if you don't understand. The only thing I can say is since you're still young...try to not become like me. Work hard at school, hang out with friends, maybe get a part-time job and work up the courage towards asking out a real partner(if you don't have one already and are interested) while enjoying anime for fun on the side.

Good job for having the courage to post this, most of us here either understand or are understanding.

We all need something to help us get through hard times, it differs for different peoople. I'd try to wane yourself off of your waifu (good taste in women by the way) to a more reasonable state, just so that you arn't attached. Like I have a thing for Erza Scarlet from Fairytail and if I'm honest I think Aizen from Bleach is hawt, but I make sure no to go too far down the rabbit hole.

Anyway I'm glad things are picking up for you, and just remember that most of us here have your back.
