I like several genres but yeah, mostly metal:

(Subgenre placement is debatable)

Folk metal: Eluveitie, Kauan, Agalloch, Lumsk

Symphonic metal: Haggard, Therion, Tristania, (old)Nightwish

Death/Doom: Draconian, Insomnium, Eternal Tears of Sorrow

Hey guys, I'm just curious to know how many other anime fans also listen to Heavy Metal music.

I just went to the Heavy Montreal festival on Saturday and had the privilege of seeing Babymetal and Metallica amongst many other great bands.

Which bands do you guys like?

I'm like 5 months behind on this, but isn't Heavy Montreal a great concert?! I didn't get to go this year, but I went in 2012 and 2013 - amazing!! We make an epic 10 hour road trip to go and it's always a good time!!

You can see some of my fave bands on my profile ^.^ power/folk, melodic/symphonic and technical/death are my preferred metal sub/genres :]

Feel free to send me a friend request to chat over some metal!

I used to be obsessed with it, but now I only listen to a few outdated songs I have, but I still love them. My favorite bands I have are The Agonist, Whitechapel, Septicflesh, Rotting Christ, but not much after that. I also like a few Chelsea Grin songs but I'm gonna have to look up some of the recommendations here to get some more.

I like metal. I have some heavy metal but my favourite is definitely metalcore and trash metal (and screamo but that is not always metal). My favourite bands are: In fear and faith, crown the empire and Jamie's elsewhere. These bands aren't like noteable for heavy metal but since I couldn't find general 'metal' topic I think I'd share it here.

I like some, but for me it's gotta either have some melody and actual singing vocals, or be something just completely different, which is why I like mostly stuff like power metal, 80's glam metal and from what I've heard I'm interested in checking out some subgenres like Finnish folk metal, epic or symphonic metal, doom metal, and drone metal(what I heard reminded me of Saya no Uta's op)

Speaking of bands, only ones I really listen to regularly that may be considered metal are probably just these 3
Sabaton
Kiba of Akiba
Babymetal

For some i guess i have broke away from it because it got repetitive for me and after a while i got back into like after a couple of years mostly just thrash metal and some black metal.
lets see i guess:
Iron reagan
Municipal Waste
Ghoul
Yellow goat
Toxic holocaust
Pizza Face
Midnight

Not a lot no but i do enjoy thrash metal.

Sometimes I'll listen to it if I'm in the right mood. I'm too lazy to remember band names anymore though. I just listen to playlists on songza. I kind of prefer symphonic metal.

Like Maximum the Hormone and a couple of Japanese metal bands but not a lot of western metal artists. I'm personally more into the guitar heavy side of the classic rock movement, thats obviously not heavy metal though (like AC/DC and stuff).
