Safety is an illusion :)

Well the High school I went to was fairly safe as it shared the campus with a university so we did get shady characters as with any college but we had campus police as well.

My high school itself is filled with nerds and dorks so it was pretty safe.

Don't stand out too much and use your common sense and you'll be fine.

You wouldn't be held at gun point at my old school, but there was the usual drugs in every bathroom (always fun when they brought in the dogs) lockers were busted open with all the valuable stuff stolen from it, and the constant abuse disguised in gym class. Believe it or not must of the abuse came from the girls, as they were the ones that started the majority of the fights at school (they also bruised up the 'tough guys' quite a lot and liked to fight below the belt). For a rich preppy school with a mindset from the '80s it sure has some nasty students in it.

TL:DR Social drama and nonsense. If they don't know you, they won't bother. If they do, have fun being blackmailed and your words twisted and taken out of context.

I went to two schools my senior year, half the day at one and half at the other. The new one I went to was like a staircase to heaven compared to the old one. I despised having to go back to the old one before my day would end.

In middle school, I never felt in danger or anything. I'm going to high school, and there was a knife incident a few years back, but otherwise I don't expect anything crazier than the usual.

In High School currently.

Do I feel safe? Yes.

Do Iike it? Half and half. My class is the type that likes to crack jokes every two minutes so I get good laugh everyday.
BUUT, it's full of people these types of people:

The ones who just curse every two seconds, using every kind of profanity. I mean it's like it's their regular speech pattern to have at least ONE curse word.

The ones who talk about games or TV shows 24/7. These guys don't annoy me as much though.

AND the most annoying of them all: The ones who just talk about boys/girls/relationships like it's some kind of cult. You know the ones. The ones who talk constantly about bloody FaceBook or instagram or some BS.

Middle school? No, I was selling airsoft guns, falsified Metro passes, and fireworks out of my backpack to some unsavory types, but their money was good.

High school? No. I remember a particular incident that occurred where it involved a gang related stabbing, one dead. Supposedly, shanks fashioned from the school newspaper were used. This happened three days after transferring there. Go get 'em Cavaliers! Such alacrity and school spirit.

College? Ehh.... It just so happens that six (estimated, possibly figurative) city blocks away are some of the seedier and most questionable neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Things from minor incidents like thefts from vehicles, robberies, to public intoxication, to more serious crimes, happened, all that fun stuff. Though my favorite was the time some inebriated fellow assaulted his ex- with a boiling cup of coffee in the library, took the campus PD forty minutes to respond.

Life is a zoo, I doubt it's going to change. Look at Walmart.

Currently in high school, for the most part yes. Sometimes I have to avoid upperclassmen, who think messing with the Asian kid is funny. (Only Asian at my school.)

I've already graduated high school, and I live in Australia. We have gun laws, so people don't really have firearms - at all. There has honestly never been any kind of violent incidents that I can recall. The worst that kids here do is drugs and bullying, but you can find that everywhere and anywhere. I've never witnessed physical bullying however, just people poking fun.

Note: I experienced bullying in my second year of high school (year 9) because for year 8 and 9 I attended an all-girls private catholic school. I've heard in other countries, like in England, private schools are actually good. Over here though, I think that's where the worst bullying occurs because the girls are so bored they cause drama out of nothing. Also, the education is probably even worse in private schools than public schools because all they care about is money.

The school administration was worthless, but my high school had a Brock Samson-esque resource officer. Nobody had a chance at taking him down. He held no reservations about getting involved in fights and I watched him chase down a few folks and destroy them. Needless to say I felt pretty safe there. As long as you didn't do anything to get him involved... XD

There was a lot of sketchy people in my high school but I ways felt safe. All the public schools in the city have a police officer on campus.
My high school was also two blocks always from the police station so there was always extra cops around the school.
The area is heavily patrolled during lunch time because the school has open campus lunch.

Well, when I was in middle school, they had police officers everywhere. So yeah, I felt safe.
