When I was in high school,it was kinda safe. There were fights, but not all the time.A lot of the people looked scary, but you usually wouldn't have any trouble. There was a day when we had to talk about how a kid traded a gun for pot,but that was one of the only interesting things that happened.Funny (well.. not funny, but more shocking) story,a teacher's husband was arrested for getting one of the teacher's students pregnant. That girl was one of my closest friends

The high school I went to really upped the security while I was attending high school. By the time I was a senior (class of 2011), only ONE entry to the entire high school was to be used at all times. Every other entry was locked (unless some event or something) and monitored by at least one staff (they were just receptionist type staff, helped visitors find the main entrance to check in) and the main entrance was a LONG walkway in front of the main offices so they could literally see everyone who went into the building.

I've heard now at the new high school in my town, each student has to enter by proving identification using their school IDs on a certain machine. All beyond me though! It's funny though 'cause I already felt 99% safe in the school prior all their little security tweaks.

Our school tried to create the illusion of security by building a HUGE prison-like fence around the perimeter of the school...

I don't really feel that comfy considering social anxiety stuff... yeah.

The most dramatic thing to have happened is people setting off the fire alarms to get out of lessons... and I know that the popular kids all have a drug network between them- they do their 'dealing' in the sixth form cafe *facepalm* Oh, and we've had a few 'overly friendly' male teachers in the past... looking up girls skirts under the desk from what I've heard.

If I avoid the creeps and drug ring then I'll be dandy.

In the HS that I attended... Safe enough. Florence, MS is pretty much a backwoods place, despite only being thirteen miles from Jackson, so hardly anything interesting ever happens there. I felt very safe in my former elementary and middle schools, due to obliviousness. I moved quite a bit, but it's almost as if my presence guaranteed that the schools would be almost boring during my stay.
