I'm sure this has been discussed before but I want to know if anime studious look at the amount of CR viewers per episode. The amount of viewers, DVD and Blu ray sales and merchandise decide wether a certain series gets a second or third season.....right? If any one else has some insight, I'd like to know.

Outside of rare cases, it's the success of the japanese market that more or less determines whether things may get a 2nd season. That's their primary market and as such the most important ones. Maybe western success has some input, but it is more than likely greatly overshadowed by the success/lack of success in Japan.

yes we are. Any thing that makes them money helps, and cr pays them.

It's been explicitly stated somewhere hereabouts that US views have an impact, it's a sizable market.

Can't remember the reference now tho

Wasn't the CR views one of the things that contributed to Log Horizon getting a second season? I thought I saw someone state that.

Well before CR I wasn't paying for anything so whatever money CR gives them and what I'm giving CR has to be better than nothing.

Well anything besides Aniplex helps the anime kingdom in my eyes.

Log Horizon was aired on a certain channel that was concerned more with ratings than sales, but CR did help a little according to the creator of LH who hosted a Q&A on 4chan. CR reported on it a while ago.

Watching legally on CR helps a little, but it's always best to import the BD/DVD/manga/LN of the Japanese releases.

I bought a ticket to japan, went to akihabara and spent a few hundred dollars. I helped.

I think that's CR's job. The branches of the tree do their own thing to do well. The tree itself bears little risk as their business with CR ends at the initial stage were they'd sell the licencing and merchandising... probably. Who cares. I don't know but you can sort of guess this is how it works.

Whether or not Crunchyroll is a factor in an anime getting another season or not, I do not know. I do know we help the industry by using Crunchyroll, which is better than pirating. When I was debating on getting a subscription to the site or not I came across this article and made up my mind.
