Did anyone go to a high school that allows the students to leave the campus for lunch?
My high school used to offer off campus lunch for everyone but the freshmen lost the privilege a few years ago. It was fun going to KFC or Jack in Box with friends. I gained 60 pounds in those four years too because of it.

Wish we had this at my high school, only the "super-seniors" are allowed to have off-campus lunch.

Nope, but that didn't stop me.

In Year 12 (5th and final year of high school in Australia) we had something called frees - essentially free slots in our schedule where we didn't have a lesson. People who didn't get good grades had to go to supervised study, other students got the privilege of independent study/frees. We were allowed to come to school late if we had a free first lesson, and leave early if it was our last lesson. We weren't allowed to leave and come back though, although people did it all the time. Sometimes it was easy to avoid the teachers on-duty, but other times you got caught haha.

Did my school allow it?

No.

Did they stop us all from going to the QuikTrip less than 5 mins away from the school?

Nope.

They also brought in Pizza Hut pizza's every odd day (Mon, Wed, Fri) so that was bonus as well.

I went to 2 different high schools had this except my second high school didn't let freshman leave but luckily I was a sophomore when I switched schools. Though I never really did leave campus because I ate in the band hallway.

They used to allow it in the high school I went to, but since some people never came back, they stopped doing it.

For a while, but then the school wanted to make it more likely for students to buy cafeteria food, and there was also an issue with some students not coming back. I normally didn't eat lunch, so it didn't effect me. I usually just read, talked, and daydreamed the entire time. I sometimes bought from the vending machines, though.
