Every day was a walk to walmart to get mcdonald's. I worked there during high school so I would get half off everyday, saved a ton of cash.

There was only one school out of the several I went to that allowed that. The last school I went to I spent my lunchtime at the football field with all my guy friends making fun of each other and the kids who had PE that period who had to run laps. Best time ever. I had a terrible diet then. Often I ate an apple, a coke, and a small bag of hot (spicy) fries with added Tabasco to it.

I didn't know there were schools that wouldn't allow eating off campus :O (except maybe private schools...)

My high school allowed us to leave during lunch, but there was only 2 restaurants around. McDonald and a hot dog restaurant. I'm not sure they allow it now, though (I graduated in 2008...) High schools seems to be more and more restrictive these days.

Near my high school there was a pizza place with arcade games, and I used to wreck face constantly in Marvel vs. Street Fighter.

Last time I was in town I saw the place closed down and got replaced by a BBQ joint. Good times...

Yeah, it's amazing because when I crave something, I can always get it since there's so much places to go.

Yeah they did, just gotta make it back on time, then they got a little stricter but it was still easy to come and go. I lived pretty close to I could go back home to grab a bite if I wanted to.

We could leave campus during free periods (including lunch) starting the second half of junior year. I never did though, mainly because I spent almost all of my free time in the chem labs.

I went to a cozy little christian private school where everyone knew each other, technically only seniors were allowed to leave campus during lunch (our lunches were an hour long) but the teachers would let the eleventh and tenth graders sneak out as long as they were back by the half hour mark. Around the school we had family run cafe's, hipster dive bars, burger shacks, and for some reason, two Starbucks across the street from each other. If you walked a little bit further there were sushi bars, a bubble tea cafe, and a Thai restaurant. Thinking about it now, the whole street was just restaurants and grocery stores. Good times.

There seems to be a lot more schools that allow freedom than the one I went to.

I went to two schools my senior year. The one I've always went to had cameras and stationed monitors (people) at every exit. No one was allowed out until the last bell rang. There has been cases where people would try to run out in between periods, but they would usually be stopped by the county sheriff that eventually started pepper spaying and roughing up the students attempting to escape to set them as examples (the parents liked that idea).

My other school would allow it, but they wanted to respect some of the other big schools' policies (basically mine). They still did go off-campus from time to time, but it had to be with a teacher. I still remember everyone chipping in money while my teacher would go out to get us pizza and wings in the middle of class (this class was 2.5hrs long) and come back and we would go to town on it.

Only the seniors were allowed outside whenever it was lunchtime or if they had a free period, but a lot of the juniors would sneak out anyway. We had a really nice plaza just a couple of blocks away with Starbucks, McDonalds, and other stores.

I don't recall a year of school when you weren't allowed to leave school for lunch where I live.

the first HS I attended I did, and I either went to my friend's house or circle K and ate ice cream lol. but then I transferred HS after my sophomore year and they were a closed campus :/ if I was lucky, my dad would bring me a lunch if he forgot to give me money that day :3
