My school is pretty strict and they wont allow anyone to go out when school is in session, not even the seniors. My school they would offer really bad food too and there was a dunkin near by. If anyone would try to sneak and get out of school they would get suspended if they were caught.. Anyways the only place we could eat is in the schools cafe, no where else in the school. We cant eat in the gym, or a classroom.

Nope. Everyone, no matter what grade, had to eat cafeteria food. Though that did not stop people from actually trying and some succeeded.

But then you have good old college.

My high school was much the same way. No one was allowed to leave the campus for any reason outside of being checked out, or emergencies. Only place we could eat were in the cafeteria and a small patio connected to it.

Yep, but only for seniors who had a 3.0+ GPA and took place on Fridays. Regardless of GPA, if anyone (especially the underclassmen) is caught exiting my school for lunch out of Friday or test days, he/she will be prohibited from such opportunity for the rest of the year. On the bright side, I was permitted to leave my school for open lunch for my entire senior year, thanks to my 3.8 cumulative GPA even though I seldom take school seriously. I totally enjoyed eating at Subway and Arby's during those days, and gaining 20+ pounds have never been so fun.

My school really cracked down on students with a bunch of rules the year before I came, so that's a privilege lost

When I went to high school there was a pizza guys and a taco bell right across the street and anyone who had a off-campus pass usually went there or the burrito stand down the block. Honestly those places must make a killing during the school year.

The high school I graduated it from was a charter school it started off with 8 classes and during lunch we could go anywhere to eat, there was a quizno's near by so a lot of people would go there or the the nearest gas station which was like 5-10min walking distance depending how fast you walked.
After that school became only 4 hours morning classes and afternoon classes, If you stayed for both you could leave and get something to eat. Thankfully they weren't that strict there

No, I never had that. But in senior year lunch was our last "class" so we could leave early instead.
My first high school you could go outside during lunch but you had to stay on campus. My second one, no.

At my high school, everyone was allowed to leave campus during lunch. However, we were confined to the area of the local shopping center as anything else would be too far and we couldn't get back in time. There were two grocery stores, a Mexican food place, a Sushi place, an ice-cream parlor, an awesome local-fresh-health-food restaurant, a confectionery, a burger place, a pizza place, and a Panera bread.

The one place everyone loved to go was the In-N-Out Burger, but it was a few miles away and the only way to get there and back in time was by car. If you got busted going out of area for lunch (or were habitually late getting back) you couldn't leave the school grounds for lunch for a few days.

On an interesting note, I frequently left the area for lunch and always got away with it. The principal even gave me some cash and asked me to pick her up In-N-Out, lol.

They used to before I went to HS but they had too many students getting into accidents and since the school was still held responsible they opted to reduce the liability and stop of campus lunch. We had a nice cafeteria though (New School). My HS's food was on par with my college campus food. May have been better. We had a boars head deli in ours. unfortunately the fries started to suck after they had a kitchen grease fire. Only thing that really sucked was the basic school lunch chocolate milk. Most students opted for a snapple for an extra $1.

My school cafeteria is pretty small compared to the amount of students that have a lunch period, and not everyone would have a seat if they all ate in the cafeteria. So they allowed students to eat out. They did require that the students hand in a permission slip at the beginning of the year. The street that the school is on has a lot of restaurants and fast foods, and the seniors would even take their cars and drive to Chipotle, even though it was in the next town over. It's a privilege that I take for granted, now that I see how many schools don't allow this, but it doesn't even matter to me anymore since I had to drop my lunch period to fit in a class.

Yes! I did! We were allowed to go to sonic or anywhere near as long as we got back in time...mBut the first years lost this so now only second years and third years are allowed to have off campus lunch..

So we could eat around the school as long as we didn't bother any other classes. But now I've heard the rules have changed for the first years sadly...

For my school it's just a senior privilege. To be honest, seniors get to go where they want when they want.
