My school offers off-campus lunch. My lunch is 20 or so minutes, and that's not nearly enough time to go anywhere decent around where I am. I like to take time to enjoy my lunch, thank you very much.

No. I think there was a chance for it, but someone totally ruined it for our class and onward.

Oh well, not like I could really afford anything at the time since I didn't start working until my senior year.

My first high school was basically in the middle of the wilderness. So many streams.... Lovely but messy during raining season. So, no. There were no places to go for lunch.

I was home schooled after that but took a while for me to go for me to hang around some mama papa restaurants around for lunch.

I didn't have it, and I didn't want it. Seems unnecessary and way more trouble than it's worth. The only argument for it that I can see is the income local eateries would get. But those eateries would likely only be unhealthy fast food establishments so kids are probably better off with cafeteria food since at least there's some small nutritional standards in most schools.

I remember the kids at my school acted like it was a civil rights issue or something. All I could ever think was "boo freaking hoo you can't leave campus to smoke. Get over yourselves." A dozen years later, I'm still inclined to agree with my teenager self

Only the seniors were allowed to drive out for lunch, but a lot of underclassmen managed to sneak out regardless. Shit was fun.
