1. Larger simulcast selection on CR, I prefer
2. Community/forums
3. More platforms and devices (They got Windows Phone. I have Windows Phone, but other apps never have a WP. Glad CR does. Same goes for the Vita/PS3 apps.)
4. Better player
5. Anime/games/Japan news

I only pay for CR. I use Funi/Hulu to watch simulcasts one week late in SD with ads. Maybe someday, I'll pay for Funi or buy Blu-Rays from em. I do like that Funimation has contests. We have them here, but not as much. (I think.)

TL;DR: Must have both. Can't stand ads on Hulu, so both are needed.

Except for three shows, two of which I don't watch, there is no overlap in the catalog. Funi seems to have gotten more of the serious/dark/action shows (and more of the ecchi ones, too) and CR mostly gets the rest.

By volume, CR gets way more of each season's simulcast shows, so it is by far the better value. But I would not want to miss most of the shows that Funi does snag though, plus I haven't been through their entire catalog yet.

I mostly watch on Roku, and CR's queue integration works fairly well for me, although there are some features I would like to see added, better genre/tags, more than 50 on a "stripe", multiple queues. Hopefully when the new release comes out it will be better.

I can't seem to get what appears to be Funi's queue to work at all on Roku, and they have no text search function at all, instead relying on alphabetical and tag listings, so I have to remember where I left off and even what I'm watching at all (if it isn't current), which can start to be a challenge at my age , but it's easy enough to navigate and find stuff... and until CR's next release, Funi does have the HD advantage, although I have to select it every time, so that's annoying. Even with HD though, Funi's colors seem "off" to me. They're too dark or something.

The upside when using Funi's Roku app vs CR's is that when a show is made available, everything is there, HD, subs, etc. But the downside is that they aren't very consistent about keeping to their scheduled release times, so sometimes I even forget to watch until the next day or even later. With CR's devices, sometimes you have to wait an hour or so to get the subs and resolution you want, but it is (usually) at least available on time in some form, so you know it is being worked on. With Funi, that's always a mystery until it just suddenly is there.

Neither one has autoplay built into the Roku, at least not yet...

I don't have any of those freezing problems on either site, whether on Roku or the web browser, which I tend to avoid browsers if possible due to the horrific bandwidth suck difference between web players and the Roku. Even Funi's HTML5 is not really any better than Flash. They both are terribly wasteful.

I like CR's website features and navigation much better, once I added beardfist's chrome extension for CR, that made all the forum navigation and notifications very friendly, and I'm used to the forum here since it covers almost every show each season. It just seems too convoluted to find anything on Funi's website and navigation between pages is just unpleasant there. I tried to read just their help forum once and I got bogged down.

CR has a useful RSS feed for new shows appearing, so that's a big plus. I get notified within less than 10 minutes (usually about 5). I haven't found anything like that for Funi, and have to manually check the website, or switch to the Funi app and look to see if a show is there.

The personal customization you are permitted on CR is unheard of, really. Where else can you literally make what amounts to your own website, like my Rotten Sushi Index Page using native CR objects, URLs and features to provide simple recommendations alongside each show and to have an expanded set of tags to find a show to watch.

funimation is kinda garbage all-around and I prefer subs anyway.

wouldn't want to give them my money since I don't like their main product.

Did I choose CR over Funi? No, I don't think I chose either and take advantage of any and all legitimate sources of anime I can find.

I have both.
The Funimation app lags and freezes a lot.
I prefer Crunchyroll

Whoever said I chose one over the other?

I use both. Both work perfectly on the Roku, infact FUNi is kind of better quality wise on the Roku.

CR does have a more optimal app in the sense of having a working queue though.

I use and pay for both, and both work perfectly fine on my laptop. I don't really use the mobile apps, but CR's is better.

I picked Crunchyroll over Funimation because it has more stuff and I can almost never stream anything on Funimation. Which always makes me have to deal with Hulu's ads for shows licensed by Funimation.

When I have the extra cash I subscribe to both, watching both on my Roku. I got sick of paying for ads with HuluPlus and with Cruncy and Funi I get almost all series I want,.so if there is the occasional Viz show, I catch it.on HuluFree on my netbook. But I don't have any extra cash at the moment, so its just Crunchyroll, where I have an annual subscription.

Now, if it came down to just one on a monthly subscription, I'd still pick Crunchyroll for the selection of simulcasts.

People talk about the $10 Funimation app like its a bad thing, but I wish their incompetent app builder made an app that worked on my 7" tablet, as I'd buy it if it was available to me. Being able to pay once then watch free streaming anime is a better deal than Hulu, which only streams to apps for HuluPlus subscribers.

I subscribe to both. I like Funimation's dubs normally, and this season they have more shows I'm watching than CR, though CR's website is a lot better, plus I've had issues with some of Funimation's subs.
