So I'm on my school's cross country team. When we practice, I don't wear a shirt, because it's fucking hot outside and I find it extremely uncomfortable to wear a shirt while running.

Almost half way through my 3 mile run today, I was stopped by my coach. I was told that since the football team and other teams complained about me not wearing a shirt (specifically me because I'm the only one who doesn't wear a shirt during practice), I had to go put a shirt on and continue practice. Something about people being offended or something.

Well it's fucking hot outside, and it's uncomfortable. All I had was the shirt I wore to school today, which had to be the worst shirt I could possibly wear and run in.

Why do people get so offended over the silliest things? How do you get offended over something like this? I just don't understand.

Probably there's something on your back.

Full blown acne.

Or it's the middle of the day and they just want you to avoid skin cancer. Or be an Oompa loompa

Awesome, former high school XC runner right here!

During practice, most of us went shirts off when it was baking hot, humid, or raining, and nobody complained. Sure, some students joked about it, but it was never a problem. I think it's retarded that your coach told you to put a shirt on. Our coaches would have never done that, despite what others would say. I don't clearly understand the circumstance that would warrant you having to put your shirt back on, but I'm assuming it's either out of insecurity or homophobia, though the former is most likely. Next time they tell you to put a shirt on, don't. Ask why instead and make a logical appeal. If your coach says it's because it makes the other athletes uncomfortable, tell him that you don't care about what they think, and that your shirt was hindering your performance.

Many different people gets offended by many different things. I feel like they're shouldn't be offended by something so small. But I digress. Different people has a deep hatred over something. But something like taking your shirt off outside during practice, surely I can tell that your coach really worries about your health. That's why he wanted you to put it back on.

Well, being a former body builder (during school) i know there were alot of people i went to the gym with, who were utter douches, and tried to find any excuse to remove their clothing during gym, especially if it was a cross class with the girls.

Now that does indeed piss me off. Not really for any specific reason, other than your simply being a douche.

Now there is a difference between being a douche, and being hot as fucking shit, and your about to die of heat.

There is nothing wrong with de clothing when your about to catch heatstroke, but if your pulling off your shirt mid winter, then your just an ass.

Your classmates are most likely just stupid. I dont see a problem in taking off your shirt if your overheating.

Tell em to stuff it.

Maybe some people felt uncomfortable and not offended. It could be that there a dress code at your school and your coach didnt want you to disobey that rule for some stupid reason even though it was hot.

The problem is that it's not the coach, it's just coach relaying info from the principal to me. Coach didn't care one bit last year, and he didn't care this year until the principal complained. But yeah I planned on talking to the principal who decided this soon, and I'm getting my parents to complain as well. I'll throw in a petition as well if I have to.

Well it's not unhealthy, and wearing a shirt like the one I had to wear is probably more hazardous to my health.

Yeah man, do it. It's not like running around shirtless is public indecency, and other schools' athletic programs do permit it, so there are no grounds for making it mandatory to practice with a shirt on. If that doesn't work, throw a bitch fit and whine about how some dude on an internet site called Crunchyroll was allowed to run XC without a shirt on in his high school when you're not allowed to. That'll surely work, lol . Good luck, bro!

While I think it is stupid what happened I also think it is stupid to make such a big deal out of something so small. I hate the heat more than anyone but if this happened to me I would just plan ahead and have a shirt that I could wear comfortably while still avoiding any complaints. Making too big of a deal out of having to wear a shirt is just being a bit of a douche in my opinion.
