I wanted to clarify the nudity rule a bit so I'll quote the relevant ones here.

"3.1 Nude/Naked
~ Any form of nudity, regardless of whether or not the subject is covering their breasts or genitalia, will not be tolerated.

3.2 Female Breast Exposure
~ Exposure of more than 1/2 of the breast, exposure of the areola, and exposure of the nipple will not be tolerated. Fondling of the breasts (i.e. grasping the breasts either by the character or by another character) will not be tolerated either.

3.3 Genital Exposure
~ No form of genital exposure will be tolerated. This includes fondling with undergarments, extremely low exposure (such that more or less 1/2 of the mons pubis is exposed) or visualizations of the genitalia beneath the underwear (where the labia majora or penis is discernible).

3.4 Sexual Connotations
~ Any picture depicting sexual undertones, such as sex, masturbation, or anything of the sort will not be tolerated."

When I say artistic renditions, I don't mean the type you see in anime and manga. I'm referring to the type that you would see in classical art, think of Michelangelo's David or the Sistine Chapel and The Creation of Adam. I mention those because everyone I'm sure has seen them.

They clearly show male genitalia which I won't even ask if that's okay. What I'm curious is of artwork where the entire shape of a bare breast is shown, but the nipples are not drawn and the genital area is not detailed. Any art that is a nude, but not anatomically detailed. The best example I have on hand are depictions of Lucy from Elfen Lied which I can provide if requested.

Many of the figurines for sale and many episodes of anime show much more of what would be called "inappropriate" than that.

Not really nudity but the "PG-13" ruling on crunchyroll being put into question in relatives to current culture trends and crunchyroll's inconsistencies.

Here is some of the leg work:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-830827/liberalizing-forum-rules-for-the-new-year-currently-conflicts-with-crs-own-content?pg=1

One thing you find out about crunchyroll is the enormous amount of disparity of what crunchyroll is actually promoting against to what is it's allowing for its user.

Another thing is that the rules are mostly enforced when people report. There are a lot of things that fly by that mods don't really see; the unspoken rule is "don't be a dick.". This can also open up for some of "report troll" if one user is really irking to mess with another user.

Well, those are just small notes for you to think about. I will add some more if this is discussed a bit more.

Thanks for the link and yes, there is a large disparity which I understand. CR does need to start putting adult content tags on shows, However, a shows visual content is still separated from the forums. I brought up the figurines because they are posted right on the front page of the website for anyone to see. The Kill La Kill figurines I think are more revealing than what I have in mind. The figurines are a bit sexual in nature while the other is tasteful and artistic. Sexual depictions have their place, but if there is going to be a PG-13 rule for forums, then what CR itself posts should also follow that when it is open to be seen by anyone who visits the main page.

This is acceptable on CR as CR has posted similar things open for all visitors to see. It was an ad for this characters figurine in the upper right corner of the home screen.

I potentially would like to use this as an avatar or on my page and it does not have nipples nor genitalia. I would probably end up getting a healthy warning if I used it and was reported. (Image edited just in case) Don't look if you find art offensive even though nothing is shown.

Basically, what I want to know is that okay to use without the big white box covering everything. Again, the full shape of the breasts are shown, but no nipple is drawn and the genital area is not detailed. It's simply outlined and looks as if she'd be wearing a flesh colored thong.

It's an uphill battle. I've been at this for almost two years. Everytime, the topic has been iced and ignored.

Just read some of my reasoning on that thread link. I do go over the possibilities of crunchyroll chasm with its user base. Those aren't unwarranted either; the rationale is based on what I discussed with the community mods.

But hey. I even got in trouble for something writing something sensually suggesting as a caption. The picture has no nudity or sexual connotation at all but the text.
