We can't browse by genre anymore! This update is horrible. The search function isn't helpful unless you know the name of the anime you want. You can't just search by genre anymore like you used to. The only useful buttons are simulcast and popular, but we can't filter out the genres. The alphabetical button on the new app is poorly thought out. They expect us to go through hundreds of titles from A to Z. It is really bad for customers that just want to browse by genre, and aren't sure what they want.

Yeah and what is up with having to press play to go to the menu, and press OK to play an episode ?!?! I had to come to the forums to even find out I had to press Play to get to a menu... The entire process of setting up and figuring out how to work it took a half hour. Not user friendly.

People who don't know enough to find a comment in a forum which explains this weird interface will have no idea how to use this App. At least put up an explanation or something!

Edit: I'm watching something now and when I used fast forward I can't see what time in the video I'm at while I'm holding the fast forward button, and there is no preview of what frame you are on. So I just have to guess where in an episode I want to be.

I want the old app back.

I think I'm going to agree with everyone on here and say that the new Roku app is HORRID! I mean, you can't play an episode from the beginning anymore if you already watched the ep. You have to rewind it from the friggen ending to get to the beginning. Plus it's extremely hard to navigate.

Yes, please give us the old Roku app back.

i hate this update so much.. i can't get it to go to the next Episode. i want my episode list back dammit. what a crap update i want the old app back.

Yeah this new app SUCKS! It is not user friendly at all. Before you could just hold down the arrow button to scroll through episodes but now u have to push the the button everytime u pass an episode. And what's up with the ads?? They say if u log in you won't get ads...i'm logged in but still get 3ads per episode LAME. PLEASE bring back the old app.

I thought non-premium members would still get ads, but regardless, there shouldn't be that many. The "too many ads" issue been reported, confirmed as not intentional, and Customer Support is addressing it. For more info please see: /forumtopic-862651/roku-20-help-us-improve?pg=1#47496649

This new app is terrible. There seems to be a navigation bar on top of the home page that I cannot reach. If I want to watch consecutive episodes I have to back out of the app completely and return to my show. Another huge peeve is I cannot see the thumbnails of the video when I want to fast forward past the theme/rehash last episode for 5+ minutes. What is the deal CR?

You have to press the play/pause button to access it, which certainly isn't intuitive.

As to the queue not advancing to the next episode, I can only assume the person that designed it thinks everyone on CR watches every episode as soon as they come out, and therefore always has to wait a week for the next episode.

Add me to the list of folks who'd just like to revert.

I understand that a simple "I hate it" is not helpful as feedback for the devs, but I do simply hate this new interface--by comparison to the old. The CR app on Roku used to be a joy to use with a few minor flaws (moving between seasons of a long-running anime could have perhaps been better, and rarely a specific episode just wouldn't load on Roku & I'd have to hit the web interface instead for just that one. Ok, for me, two flaws.)

Honestly, barring swift appearance of an option to revert, I'll most likely cancel my membership. Watching on the PC with some commercials & 1-week delays was a way better experience than using the current Roku app.

Something I find interesting is a comment by a Roku rep in their forums back in earlier June (bolded for emphasis):

We are not blocking Crunchyroll's update, we are working with them to get it published, and I must say, the update when it hits it will be awesome. Even TheEndless will be impressed :-)

So did the app change that much in the past several weeks, or did Roku actually think this was a good design?

If the latter, it makes me concerned for the future of other Roku apps.

I vote, "marketing-speak." In others words, if you have nothing nice to say, say something nice (and upbeat) anyway.

Revert. This update is seriously making me reconsidering my support. It is counter intuitive and confusing and badly, badly, badly done. Who thought this was a good idea a three year old? Needless to say I am very, very angry over this.

EDIT: Just noticed the video quality is down with the update as well. Now with even more anger.

I'm with everyone here, the app is garbage! Laggy, choppy movement when moving between shows in the queue, pixelated preview screen caps, no option to browse episodes of a title, browsing titles difficult, unintuitive controls, no time or screen caps while rewinding or fast forwarding, no play from where you left off, when paused the giant dark banner stays at the top and prevents you from reading if shows get dialogue heavy and you have trouble keeping up.

The original Roku app was the best and why I used it over my other streaming devices. It only lacked HD. Bring it back but keep the HD. Done and done.

The app wasn't made with the Roku in mind. Compared to the other Roku apps it feels very weird to use. It doesn't take advantage of the buttons the controller has.

Was this app made for consoles then ported over? it's not very roku user friendly.
Crunchyroll staff please look into this!
