Yes this is just basically the PS3 App that has been ported over!

Worst app I have ever used for anything. Can't easily scroll through episodes. I have to "rewind" episodes like I'm watching something on a vcr if I'm rewatching an episode. My queue can't even play the latest current episode. Just has a placeholder for next weeks episode which is unplayable. Researching other apps and services that have Naruto and Sword Art Online. This will be the easiest cancellation and switch and I've been a member for years. I have never seen such epic fail.

From what I understand, the new app uses a different streaming method, so that probably isn't possible without a substantial re-write,which could end up taking as long as fixing the problems with the new app.

The choices are likely revert to the previous app and lose HD, or stick with the current app and its issues until it fixed.

I suppose in an ideal world CR could just make a "Crunchyroll classic" app available (the old one) in parallel with the new one and let people chose in the interim. I suspect there may be some reason, however, that they can't do that.

I completely agree with you the update sucks...I was trying to watch an anime and it had me watch 3 and a half minutes of commercials and I could not rewind. So I just deleted the app off of my Roku...its gone Crunchyroll no longer gets barrage me with the same 4 commercials for that weird Naruto game and that crappy looking game with dragons..or that stupid pretty boy sailing game and finialy the piece de resistance that freaky running game that makes no sense. Thank you Crunchyroll for helping see the light and choosing something else that doesn't suck as much as this update does.

Never to return...a very dissatisfied viewer.

I am really unhappy with this update. I thought it might fix some problems with the old app had but it appears to have introduced new issues that make it very difficult to use. The old app was a lot easier to navigate between your queue as well as browse based on genre. I had no idea how to get to the new menu for browsing/searching until I found this thread. On my roku/tv the graphics for cover art seem to be much lower resolution/quality as well.

That is software development at is core - remove features and add bugs. Sarcasm aside it is crap compared to the old app and I had no clue how to get to the menus until I read the thread.

Also it craps out about half way through a show. I have yet to be able to watch a whole episode.

I agree-- New roku app sucks . Why change something that was ok--for something that does not work properly at all. You had this going for you over the funimation site that doesn't have a queue or favorites app that works. I want to fast forward in any given show it's almost impossible to do. where are the genres?

when it craps out press the fast back two arrows pointing left on the the remote it rewinds a bit then continues through to the end for me

I don't like the way that my queue won't show banner images of the shows I have in it, but instead shows an screenshot from the current episode [or NOTHING in the case of shows where a new episode isn't available yet]. I don't like that I have to scroll through every single show in my queue to get to the bottom, instead of just pressing back when I'm at the show that's at the top of the queue. I don't like the way fast forward works now.

In short, virtually everything about this update is bad and almost nothing is good.

please fix this roku app soon. i never watch on my PS3 because it was too annoying to navigate and now you've taken my roku away too!

I'm glad to see I'm not the only user frustrated by this update. To start with, it's not intuitive for the Roku remote. There's too much fussing involved to get to commonly used features like search and settings. It's clunky for the sake of visual streamlining and honestly needs an instruction screen when you open the app to explain that this app doesn't work or follow the flow that the majority of other Roku apps use.

We lost a ton of features which I, as others, saw as an advantage over other competing Roku apps. Being able to browse by genre, chapter stop style fast forwarding/rewinding, search that would try to offer suggestions as you typed, smooth menu transition from watching one episode to the next, quickly being able to rewatch a previously viewed episode, etc.

Episodes now buffer significantly more often. Last night I was watching a series and the OP kept skipping and repeating the same 10 seconds or so at least 4 or 5 times before it finally was able to chug further. Episodes do not play smoothly like they used to and fast forwarding/rewinding is a chore, usually resulting in excessive buffering, or the video just giving up and not playing at all. I had to go back to the Roku main menu to come around back in to the video when that happened since there seemed to be no way to get it to go back to the CR main menu.

The only feature I do like of this update is the ability to see shows in order of most recently updated, but it certainly wasn't worth losing all the previous features that I enjoyed. I'm very disappointed in this update and ask for the option to revert back. This new version is not an enjoyable user experience.

I have been running into a bug where after I watch an episode, the next episode doesn't pop up in my queue so I have to back out of the app for it to update to the next episode. I would also like to say that scrubbing through an episode now is clunky because it has to buffer at each tick.

What a mess. Queue won't automatically go to the next episode of a show and there's no way to do it manually, partially-viewed episodes start over from the beginning and not where I left off, can't get to the episode list of a show from the queue, etc.
I'm pretty happy with the updates to the PS3 app, so it's unfortunate that this one suddenly took such a huge step backwards.

This update sucks! Navigation is just terrible. The old app was much more user intuitive while this one is just a laggy cumbersome mess! Seeking for example doesn't even show the time-frame, let alone show a preview like it used to. Loading also takes forever now. Please revert to the old one until POS software that shouldn't even have gotten near beta status is fixed! Talk about going 10 steps backwards!
