Generally, when you ask for an update and get a reply that says they're going to pass your "feedback" on, it means they aren't working on it.

Generally when writing to a generic company, or generally when writing to a company that is actively engaged in fixing up some parts of the mess they have just made?

Please bear in mind, this was before I was informed of an update for the update (though we still have no idea when that is going to be rolled out).

I don't see why that has to be borne in mind ... if you realized that your assumption about what it meant was invalid once you learned that they were in the process of pushing out the first build of bugfixes, then you were clearly jumping to conclusions when you assumed without knowing either way that they weren't in the process of pushing out the first build of bugfixes.

Do you even have a NowTV box?

Certainly not, I'm not in Sky's footprint. But I'm always interested in what new media ventures that former anime pirate bay owner Rupert Murdoch is up to, so of course I became interested in nowTV when I find out that Sky has their own streaming box.

AS I see it this is a thread for the announcement and discussion of any nowtv issues and fixes with the new channel that was split off from the main Roku help thread those of us with a horse in the race will make sure it is not forgotten

Okay, what's your problem?

I'm angry about the startling lack of information being circulated and the fact that over a week later, I still cannot stream. I think I'm pretty entitled to be pissed off. They refuse to reinstate the old app despite how many people dislike this new one and instead go to make a new update for the current update, which could be rolled out...when? Days, weeks? Months, potentially? They won't even give a reason for not brining the old interface back.

And yes, you should bear it in mind, since it was before I heard anything. And even now, I don't think my opinion is invalid, since there is still 0 visibility surrounding this.

I don't even see why I need to explain myself to you. What are you even doing in this thread? Who cares what you think about Sky? As garak70 says, you're not helping anyone. You don't care about NowTV or it's users.

I agree with annietheant, as a NOWtv crunchyroll user i have the feeling that we have been put to the bottom of the pile, i mean it has been over a week now since the problems started. All i want is to watch anime, before the new app i could do that, now i cant. Solution either fix the new app asap or revert to old app. Still keeping the faith that it manages to get fixed very soon, but slowly losing hope.

See, that was my question:

1. As you can see from the main problems thread, a number of models of Roku have lost the ability to stream video, not just the nowTV.

2. And unlike a lot of the complaints about the app, the video not working is one of the four problems they say they are actually working on:

yantingli wrote:
- Improve the queue experience
- Ability to auto-play episodes
- Correct the number of ads that are played
- Continue to support as many devices as we can, including older devices

So rather than being at the back of the queue, the problems with streaming not working is one of only four issues where they are willing to say that its in the queue at all.

3. Its a Roku app, its not going to be rolled out until Roku approves it. Its not as if Crunchyroll can decide for themselves to push out a new build, Roku has to approve it. That's why its going to take two or more weeks.

"ASAP" for a new build of a Roku app isn't a day or two, its a week or a few. Checking in every day is treating it like the website where Crunchyroll is free to roll out new code as soon as they decide to. But Roku is not built for rapid-turnaround development, its built for companies that test their work and fix the most serious issues before they roll out production code.

That's why it was so reckless of Crunchyroll to go ahead and submit the build of this app which turns out to be broken in so many ways, without setting up a private channel and doing beta testing. But that's what they did, and so they've got themselves into this mess.

The good news in that is:

We've had several reports from users where they were unable to watch video via the new app on their device.

A couple models identified to experience this are:
3000X, 3050X, 2400SK (Now TV Box).

We have identified and corrected these & the fix will go live in the next update.

... so if their fix works, nowTV (that is, Roku Model 2400SK) will be back to streaming in their first patch upload.

It sounds like the patch isn't pushed out yet ... if they have a fix for the three Roku models that are not streaming video at all, the nowTV version of the Roku LT, the "Roku 2" HD and the "Roku 2" XD, I'm not sure why they don't roll out a maintenance patch while continuing to work on the User Interface mistakes.

But in any event, it seems like now TV, "Roku 2" HD (luckily I have an older Roku 1 HD that doesn't experience that problem) and "Roku 2" XD users are in the front of the queue as far as getting their most serious problems fixed, and the problem now is how damn slow the queue itself is moving.

I don't know ... whether or not there is strategic gamesmanship in where a help topic is located in a help section, it seems that a supposed "upgrade" to a streaming video app failing to stream video at all would typically be slotted in as a high priority item once the developers have been notified.

Its not the developers that are generally affected by bumping help queues its the people reporting on the queues

Roku wasn't going to do anything on Saturday, and it's not going to do anything Sunday. And Monday is US Labor Day, so you can check in sometime Tuesday arvo.
