So the new revision of the Roku app was pushed this morning, and it looks wonderful.

However i have encountered a glaring issues right off the bat that i can only wonder how it made it out of testing.

When watching queued episodes there is no way to progress beyond the episode listed on the home screen screen. There is no next button and you can not simply navigate to the next episode. Granted you could search for the next episode but that is a roundabout work around at best. The home screen should automatically refresh when you finish watching a episode or as before you should be presented with the entire series catalog to allow for easy navigation.

I have seen some other posts with concerns about catalog browsing, witch relate similar issues.

I re-watch alot of the series on my queue, and the lack of the features you mentioned as well as the "play from beginning" button being removed, is really annoying me. Also miss the genre's, since most of the time I just pick a random anime from one to try them out......hopefully they make some improvements soon...

Same problems here. The Queue has become unusable.

Also worth mentioning, there's no way to remove a series from the Queue while you're in the Queue view. You have to go find the series in the regular list of shows and remove it from there.

There are so many obvious problems here that I can't help but think the people who developed the Roku app don't actually use Roku.

Yeah I can't believe that they missed the next episode button for Queue episodes. I mean this pretty much makes the Queue section pretty worthless. I also noticed that its a lot slower in navigation than the previous version. Between this and Netlfix these apps just keep in getting worse and worse

I noticed the exact same thing with my Harmony remote. I'm not sure if there are any programming options for the Harmony which might help or not, but I'm investigating.

I preferred the old interface by far. The only thing missing was playback in HD. Does the new app at least do that?

There are a lot of factors as to what makes it HD.

The app supports HD now yes.

Factors include though:
The show must be airing in HD (you can usually see if it does by looking here on the site, I think they are the 720 and 1080 videos).
Your TV supports HD. A lot of people don't realize that the TV is also a factor here. Pretty much all newer TV's have this. (newer as in like... 7-10 years old max)
You are using an HDMI. Again the regular old 3 pronged cable (sorry forget the name right now) is not HD, so you would need an HDMI cable here.

And I am sure there are more that I don't even know. But those 3 will make sure you are watching in HD.

SO far from this app, as my thread I started is pointing out. The HD is the only upgrade. Everything else has been jarringly small or glaringly big downgrades.

Basically all the queue screen does is play the episode listed that was loaded when you went to the Queue screen, you have to back out or go to another screen to view the next episode. This is ok if you're always on the latest episode. We definitely need that functionality back to list all the series eps from the screen (more videos button) and ability to move to the next episode.

I didn't like the features of this app on the PS3, why are we getting the same now for Roku! This is not a new app, it's an old one ported over. Boo! and why do I press the play/pause button to bring up the menu. Isn't that why Roku put that star button there for. WTH! Also can I get real time updates of watched shows. I still have to exit the app for my queue list to update to the next episodes of shows. This was a problem with the last app and it still doesn't seem to be fixed.

The biggest problem outside the queue issues you all have mentioned is the that my genre browsing is gone.

I suggest everyone post their feedback, with specific suggestions, in the Roku 2.0 Help Us Improve thread which is stickied at the top of this Roku forum. Bjaker (Support Manager) has opened a topic especially for collecting suggestions such as this.

Contacting support directly is great for issues you feel are unique to your account that may need individual troubleshooting. Flooding the support system with complaints about the functionality in general, and features you want to see, doesn't make sense when we've been invited to share those suggestions in that thread. It's not like they are unaware at how unhappy users are with the new app, and it's not like they aren't already doing something to collect info so that it can be improved.

Yeah your right, I just got on here in a fit of rage which was not very constructive my apologizes. But it would have been nice to see a new app made for the Roku instead of an old console one from the PS3 ported over and only now have the app changed to better serve the Roku experience, it infuriated me when I turned on the app and saw the PS3 version that I didn't like which is why I have always used the Roku version before even though the PS3 streamed a better picture. I just don't see the HD trade off worth it for the horrible app experience. The old app was not perfect, but its features and navigation were far better than this. It just seems no design effort was put into this app except assigning the remote interface which is also subpar.

People don't want this terrible app improved. They want it reverted. Get your head out of the sand. A suggestions thread is not going to attract any attention at all from the people who are furious about this. They don't want to suggest. They want the old app back.

Talk to Roku, have them re-publish the old app ASAP (it's already been tested, they should be fine with this), and send this one back to your devs with instructions to actually try using it before they submit it again. You people should be scrambling to do this, not calmly asking for suggestions on how to gild a pile of dung or spray it with perfume.

If you think suggestions, a long wait for improvements and testing, and then very likely disappointment over just how few of the suggestions had any effect, are the way to go, then I suspect you're in for a lot of cancellations from Roku users.

Seriously, if this isn't rectified in a satisfactory manner by next Friday, I have a reminder on my phone already, set for 5pm PDT, to cancel my premium anime+drama sub. I'll make sure to post that I did it, too, because I know talk is cheap on the internet and you probably expect me not to follow through.
