Premium user: It would been nice if the old queue interface was in this update because u only have one episode of the anime series it was easier to navigate your queue in the last update. it takes to long to navigate to the anime interface just to get the anime title in alphabetical order to rewatch the series or certain episodes this update is just broken they need to fix the queue interface to the way of last update it was much easier. Hd playback is nice, but it comes down to the queue interface part
PS: - Cannot access a series page or episode list from my queue, must search for the show page instead.
- There is no restart episode from beginning option. its not helpful like old update it needs to be fixed.

I would also prefer the old interface. Being able to select a series from my queue, and then select the episode is very important. Also being able to arrow scan with thumbnails was much more convenient than randomly fast forwarding. Everything holistic monkey wrote was right on target. The current interface is very user unfriendly.

When the channel goes into 'Screen Saver' mode (IE, you have paused the video for too long), it should display the users prefered Roku screen saver and not just a BLACK screen. For those of us with local back lighting LCDs a totally black screen makes it appear that the TV is OFF.

I just want to thank the Crunchyroll team for listening to us and addressing our problems!! This is the kind of stuff that makes me loyal to y'all even though there are tons of different options out there for me to access anime. I would really hate to have to cancel my premium membership if the Roku app didn't improve. The new Roku app UI makes it really hard to watch anime.

1. Definitely need a restart episode option. I'm constantly rewatching some of my favorite anime like Gintama. Or there may be times when I am interrupted from a show, miss 15 minutes, and would need to start the show from the beginning.

2. The favorites function was really great in the previous app. I would use it to bookmark my favorite shows or shows I would need to watch because it allowed easy access to them. With this favorites list, I could bypass searching for them through the list and it would help save time. And being able to select whichever episode I wanted from an anime on my favorites was really great. I like to jump around and rewatch different arcs, so being able to choose episodes is really important to me.

3. I think using the play button to flip through anime, settings,FAQ, etc is really confusing.....play has always just been associated with playing a show. I think it would be easier to toggle through this kind of stuff by having all these options appear in that left zone.....options like Favorites, Recently Watched,, Anime, Drama, Setting....kind of like the previous app. Or maybe if this would help, have a intro screen asking you to choose between anime or drama like with Netflix has you choose between regular and kids. I guess the best comparison would be, Sony kept the same controller buttons between PS2 and PS3, so I didn't have to learn all these new button positions.

4. The new fast forwarding is a bummer. I liked seeing which screen I would select to fast forward through an intro or when they show what previously happened in the show.

Once again, thank you for reading through the previous forum and making this a priority! It gives me the sense that Crunchyroll does value their customers. I also have the news app on my phone and I love hearing about your company updates and growth!

Andddd I think letting us go back to the old app would be AWESOME while you guys work to improve the new version!

Hey!

So, I've had a few reports of multiple prerolls.
I've seen 4-5 & 5, and now 7!

This isn't the experience intended. It should be one preroll. I've confirmed this with Ads, and when we tested in office, we're only getting one.

Can you please tell me what type or Roku you have? (Serial Model?)
Are you watching over Wired or Wi Fi?
Any other pertinent information about your viewing experience that may be 'weird'?

To keep is simple, I'm listing only 3 suggestions, in order of priority.

1. Ability to select other episodes of a series in the queue.

2. Ability to restart an episode from the beginning without having to rewind.

3. More intuitive menu access. If it isn't easy to recode the system to allow one to simply up arrow to the menu (and then right and left for options), then at least add a "bonk" noise to alert the user "You can't go there", and display text reminding the user to use the play/pause button to access the menu.

I can't really add anything new, every one else has hit the nail on the head.


* Update queue after an episode finishes.
* Ability to access other episode of a series from queue.
* Better/intuitive access to the menu (play/pause button is awkward).
* Ability to remove and add a show to and from queue. (if you can already add a show to queue I must have missed it).
* Better scrolling/seeking through an episode (rewind and forward). I don't like that it autoplays, would be nicer if it stopped so you can see what frame it's on.EDIT: Playing around a bit and if you pause it before seeking it will not "autoplay".

Long time paid subscriber here. I understand you want to improve the new app, and I think everyone has given a ton of useful feedback and suggestions. However, it's going to take time to implement those features and bug fixes.

In the meantime please let us revert to using the original app which was already great. The current app is hardly useable for a day, let alone waiting for an entire development and release cycle.

I'll second everything said here.

I don't think I saw it in this thread, but I will say that I shouldn't have to reactivate my Roku and then reboot it after the update so I can finally play something.

EDIT: I should actually explain. When I got the update, I got "Couldn't play video" or it would hang at 99%. I fixed that by rebooting my Streaming Stick, but I shouldn't have to.

Some things I miss from the old version besides everything are:

-Being able to navigate using just arrow keys and the ok button. It is much more confusing now and not really user friendly.
-There is a significant increase in the commercials as opposed to the one long one in the beginning.(I'd rather sit through a long one in the beginning than have it split up throughout the show.) I know commercials are necessary for us free folk. But still the mandatory one at the beginning was great and not that bad. Now its just a bit much.
-Being able to search for anime by genre with all the thumbnails.
-I liked the old queue in the fact that it showed up by the show and then had all the episodes under it. The new way just seems jumbled all together and makes it difficult to navigate through.

There are other things as well but mostly everyone has said it in one form or another. It is pretty. I do like the queue and history on the side but to me it seems a little unfinished as far as the options and layout (show selection) goes.

I really miss being able to browse by category, that was my primary way of figuring out what I wanted to watch. Please consider adding that functionality into the new app. Other than that, I really love what you've done to the app, it probably one of the most advanced apps on Roku. Thanks.

Ok, that time was only 6 pre-rolls, but one of them was a very long ad (perhaps 60 seconds rather than 30).

Did any of your testers check to see what happens when someone re-watches an episode, where the 'resume' time is very close to the END of the episode? What happens if someone stops an episode after the second batch of mid-roll ads, exits, then resumes? What about if the episode was previously viewed with the OLD Roku ap, and is being re-viewed with the new?

Yet another problem can not connect to service error. with the roku update not just the Queue problems I sent to crunchyroll roku app.

only have one episode of the anime title. queue needs to have all of the episodes of the anime title in the queue. it should be like the old queue version in last update.
The queue should be like this it took 5 minutes just to navigate to the anime section just to find the anime with all episodes and seasons . .
No problem with last roku app
Ps: should have access to all episodes and seasons of titles with album art directly from queue. instead of only having one episode from the anime Oh yes search function not so great. The queue and search function from last roku app version worked way better this recent update it is time consuming to navigate just to find all episodes of the anime you want to watch it was a lot easier to find all episodes of the anime in your queue in last version of the crunchyroll roku app. I like to have the last version of the crunchyroll roku app back had no problems with it until this update ?????????????.

The issue I am having is that while trying to watch a anime I get a screen that pops up that reads.....
"Couldn't play video" "Please check your connection/account and try again".
Its hard to believe that it would be the connection as the audio for the show will continue??

Doesn't seem to work with all the buttons on the remote. seems a bit clunky. now were near as easy to navigate the library, and ether it doesn't see my connection speed or its not as sensitive to it everything i watch on it is in really poor quality. Its to much like the play station APP.
