This thread is about the Peter pan in both of it's general context and the in-depth discussion regarding this specific literature.

first off... Have you all seen it? (i'm sure majority have but i just feel the need to ask anyway). What did you think of it? Which part that you like/dislike? Which version of the movie is the best?

And the more in-depth discussion:

What do you think is the moral of the story in peter pan? Did you agree with peter pan's view of being forever young at heart and despising his adulthood? Will you put up not knowing things that adult knows to keep your heart pure and playful like a kid (cough2 sex anyone)?

And of course, also any other question of your own that you want to ask to fellow CR users regarding peter pan.

ahm, ok for me rite... Yes, i have seen it, I seen 3 version of the movie so far.. but only remember one. Which is the one that came out around 2002ish. Not the robin williams ones. The one after that.

I really enjoy watching the movie even though it's actually for younger audiences. I thought it was refreshing and truly earn it's right to be a classical masterpiece.

I somewhat agree with Peter's decision to never leave the neverland and stay kid forever. For me it reflects my own view in life in a way that.. Well, i'll just simplify it to: I hate adulthood and responsibilities that comes with it. I'd choose to remain a kid even though it'll mean i'll never know the meaning of affection to the opposite sex beyond a deep friendship. I'm not being hypocritical here. I love sex just as much as the next guy. But in a perfect world, i would rather prefer the ability to connect to another human being in a platonic level rather than sexual ones. (this is not possible however since we're all created with this body and all of it's sexuality.. but hey we're just speaking hypothetically rite?)

As for other things that adulthood seems to offer: jobs, kids, marriage etc: not interested!! lol well.. maybe i'd want kids some day.. but i'll admit it for now I'm selfish and i just want to live as freely and independently as I can.

jobs and carreers and luxuries?? pfft i'd give up 100 years of my life filled with this for a moment.. one moment where you experience a true freedom and innocence that only a child's heart seems to posses.

I dunno.. that's just me though... how about you guys?

I remember all the versions of peter pan; they aren't different from each other. If I were Wendy I would have stayed in wonderland. Micheal Jackson really took it to heart tho.

............

i had goosebumps when you mention michael jackson. dear lord. lol

that's what i keep saying to everybody!! i keep telling everyone that wendy was an idiot for leaving neverland.. It just don't make sensee.. she was having so much funnn!

i think that's the message the author wanted us to get though?? they want to convey that choosing to be an adult is the right thing to do. Which i disagree with. I think being a child at heart is a really good thing instead.

Peter pan did leave Neverland tho, and he married Wendy's daughter, so I guess he too wanted to grow up.

haha your point of view is absolutely ideal and i'm sure we'd all trades those 40 hours a week for an eternity of paradise. But from my point of view peter pan already experienced a lot of responsibility being the head and somewhat caretaker of the lost boys as well as the antagonist to the evil pirate captain or whatever his name was hook or something i really don't remember, so in a way i sorta can't see him forever as a child seeing as his life already had a lot of hardship. I guess i can admire the fact that peter pan takes any situation he's given and makes it into a game even though some of the predicaments could have been drastic and if we led our own lives by his example not thinking every hardship was the end of our world then maybe we too could forever be in a childlike state of mind

ahh a well thought response! *clap2*

but yeah, i just see examples everywhere that as an adult in this world.. we are actually trained NOT to be spontaneous like a child. It made me feel that we're not really honest to ourself sometimes are we? even to ourself. (this doesn't apply to exactly everyone.. just most btw) And also we tend to complicate every single things in our life as an adult (i mean lol hey look at what we are doing rite now), where as, i don't know if this applies to everyone else as well, but i remember when i was a kid, everything used to make sense, it was all very simple.

I guess that's why I'm take my boy peter's back on this one ha ha..

@note: oh wowz did he? far out.. the one i seen rite.. he stayed on neverland, but occasionally visitted wendy and her bro. awwz : D

@bethachuu: haha yeah.. work vs play.. i'd choose play anyday
