Why do you think Naruto is getting worse or better?

I was one of the people who stopped watching Naruto around the war, where there the dead came back to life and alot of ninjas where meeting people from their past and conversing with them while battling , which to me personally felt like a rip off of Green Lantern's Blackest night.
But idk i just felt like the show lost it's feel around that area BIG TIME.
the show to me has been losing it's feel.
Not to mention Naruto is almost unrecognizable than the character he was introduced to us as inn the beginning series as well as the earlier episodes of Shippuden I mean i guess you can say he's MATURED since then but I just feel he's almost Goku-esqu especially during the big fight scenes.

I used to enjoy the fact that naruto was this kid introduced to us as an outcast and an orphan then progressively made friends and actually changed there lives from that relationship or interaction .
EX. Iruka, haku, konohamaru, gaara, sakura, Jiraya, tsunade, etc.
Now he's become just like every other shonen main character get stronger and take out the next big baddie ala goku.

Also as the show went on I had to question the motives of why getting back Sasuke was so important? i mean he's not nowhere near an interesting character.

Not to emotion he acted like a jerk to everyone around him.
Never was their an episode other than in the Zabuza arc that Sasuke actually had some connection with Naruto that would imply that they had some form of acquaintanceship . but not friendship or brotherly love.

WHy is it so important for Naruto to get him back? and it seems like the writer forces Naruto and Sakura and alot of the other villagers to care for Sasuke more than they should?

I honestly think the writter could've definitely did a better job convincing his audience on why Naruto and Sakura care for Sauske that much, especially Naruto. and Sasuke is pretty much the SAME EXACT CHARACTER THAT HE STARTED WITH!?! just that dumb lok, no emotion, only one ambition to kill someone, then he kills that person he wants and decides he wants to kill someone else. no development came from Sasuke killing THAT PERSON lol

does anyone agree with me or disagree with me? im open to all opinion and arguments, let's stay mature about it though I don't mean for my negative opinion on the show to provoke people who truly do love the show but i would like to read your takes on the show??
because for all I Know maybe im reading into this all wrong or too much lmao

has it gotten better for you or progressively worse??

for me the show was getting to the mediocrity after the Sasuke retrieval arc.

then it got better with the first season of Shippuden(which was a little dragged out) the Gaara retrieval,

then from there it got worse with the introduction of the most boring character int he show IMO, Sai.

Kishimoto had a fairly decent idea for a series when he first began Naruto.

The problem with his writing, in my opinion, is that he clearly had no idea where he wanted his ideas to go.

Imagine a smoothie. You start off with one or two of your favorite fruits and it taste delicious.
Maybe some mango, or even some strawberry's with a hint of lime & ginger.

Now, imagine that you decided to add even more of your favorite fruits.
& after that you decide, "Fuck the fruits...this needs some pretzels and Kentucky Fried Chicken."

So what once began as a simple, nutritious fruit smoothie, suddenly becomes a cluster fuck of random foods that you like.

The story doesn't seem to know where it intends to go, so it drags out plot points and story arcs until the writer decides what should happen next.
Which works for most writers.
Sometimes ideas & visions for a mangaka's story need to be written along the way so that the sequence of events don't seem too routine.

Look at the Fourth Great Shinobi War as an example:
The arc is coming up to nearly 3 years in length...
Again...3 years.
Which is okay so long as the series maintains consistent quality.
*Cough cough*

Also, the recent villain, Kaguya, was introduced as the series was in it's final phase.
A character that was never mentioned, never preconceived, never hinted at being a potential threat is suddenly the story's "Final Villain".
No development. No fan speculation. Just, "POOF! Here She is! She has super crazy abilities so please view her as a massive threat! Please?:)"

To make a very long story short, Kishimoto had way too many ideas for an already drawn out story. There are many more critiques with his method of story telling, but this is the most notable in my opinion.

Naruto was once a strawberry-mango smoothie, with hints of lime & ginger.

Now, it's a banana, Nutella, almond, Big Mac, spaghetti, kale, celery, beets, waffle, dark chocolate,
pretzel, canadian bacon, sausage, black olive, tomato, mozzarella, onion,
Sour Patch Kids, Doritos, vanilla chai tea latte, Febreeze, Windex, Lysol, walnut, ramen noodle,
strawberry- mango, lime & ginger smoothie.

Naruto Shippuden consistantly disappoints me, but I keep watching it because I want to see the end of it.
Sasuke especially pisses me off since he's one of the worst characters.

"cool-leatherjacket-guy!" kind of characters never really impressed me that much, I thought Loke from the avengers was particularly bland as well.

Sasuke is the kind of character that takes that shallow sort of writing to a whole new level.
The guy has absolutely no virtues, he simply draws decisions from whatever influence seems to be most recently inspiring to him, and I feel that could actually be applied in a very real manner, but obviously they fail very hard on this by turning him into a complete joke of a character.

Now with the most recent development it is obvious that they just want to wrap the story up and the tension between Naruto and Sasuke has reached unfair levels of neglect.

All in all, the show has just become a great cashcow, if the bittersweet "let's wrap it up" kind of writing don't prove that to you, just look at the sheer amount of fillers which should go down in history as the show that made DBZ filler moments look very gentle in comparison.

I absolutely adore the character of Obito, but he too has sort of become very stale.
Never liked Madara, and the power levels are over 9000 out of nowhere on both Hashirama and Madara, they are practically gods which is just silly because they never went out of their way to develop this in the story.

Also my favorite female protagonist, Hinata has lost everything that made her "Hinata" in my opinion, she has practically become another Sakura. And I can't believe that to this day, they still tease the Sakura and Naruto relationship, are you kidding me? Kishimoto's got some nerve to just flush out everything the way he so delinquently does, and for what!? to make room for those pissing in your pants sort of characters like Kakashi who never really had much of a role to play beyond the teacher aspect.

As for Naruto, well... He's a shonen type of hero, so he was never meant to be that great a deal in terms of interesting writing.
Basically, shonen heroes serves as catalysts for the other personalities in the show to constantly progress and I feel that it's about the only thing that they have done right by now, then again! Shonen heroes were never really among the difficult kind of characters to write...

I payed for the ride, and now I'm just waiting for it to end.

Oh it's bad trust me lol

They literally have whole ARCS of FILLERS

I stopped watching around an arc that ha to do with vampires.

Everything up to episode 60 I believe, or whatever episode the soul society/Rukia's execution ends. and they reveal the main vilalin of the show.
Everything after that sucked

it gets WAY worse than Naruto to the point you question how Bleach remained popular for so long after.

Yup you hit it on the nail with everything you said.

I would have loved if this show leaned more toward the direction of adventure. Naruto continuing to do missions from the village, developing relationships with his team Kakashi, Sasuke and Sakura and even his other fellow ninja age group all while exploring the ninja world and visiting other villages facing new challenges, fighting new enemies that actually have something to do to conflict with the plot at hand,
And because the show would only focuses on so few characters at a time it would have given the writer to develop some decent plots and sub plots, as the team worked as a group, while the focus still being on Naruto you could easily have developed others around him while Naruto wouldn't ever need to develop, like you said he is your typical shonen character. Plus the idea was that everyone started out hating him for no reason, but then everyone's perception on him changed from hatred to respecting him, which is important to the character since his overall dream was to be hokage ONLY because he wanted everyone in the village to love and respect him. that was what at the time he thought would be the key for his village to respect him. but what do ya know, because of his heroic acts, and his dedication to helping his friends and saving the village the village respects him.
He already accomplished his dream. which is why I think at the end of the show it would be a wise idea to kill off his character. which would have a STRONG impact on all the lives he's changed. and the entire ninja world, which would bring the villages together as a result of the impact he had on everyone thus far.

But knowing where this show has headed NOPE

what we will get is tsunade stepping down(or dying and meeting jiraya in the afterlife) and Naruto becoming new hokage marrying Hinata and sasuke marrying sakura, they get busy and make a new Uchia clan then Naruto and Saukes kids coincidentally both get put in a squad together as genin and reflect the personality of themselves and imply they become rivals and a new girl is involved in the middle of it all. Naruto and Sasuke will look on and have a cheesy laugh and then THE END

You should try watching bleach without the fillers and it's amazing. The Vampire filler is shit. There is also Amagai filler arc, Muramasa filler and Mod soul filler which can be avoided.

It has one of the best fights in Heuco Mundo arc.

I've also had issues with the lack of understanding of why Naruto seemed to care so much about Sasuke. I think the only way to even remotely explain it is that Naruto just seems to care a lot about everyone deeply and Sasuke was one of first people who acknowledged him in the slightest. Naruto also really has not reason to feel so strongly about Sakura either she pretty much treats him like crap from day one and rarely shows anything different.

I think Naruto is still somewhat entertaining, but yes it has got a little worse. Mainly because it's starting to feel like it's dragging on.
I still love Naruto though.

I could write an entire thesis paper that would span at the minimum of 20 pages on how bad Naruto has gotten, and how the series, and Kishimoto, lost its way.

How sad, and this is an anime that had SOO much potential to be the next One Piece, maybe even better. instead it became the love child of HunterXhunter and DBZ and strayed off from any hopeful potential early on.
