For some reason my voice seems a lot louder when speaking normally than anyone who is talking to me.
When I talk it seems most natural to make my voice volume match that of other people talking.

But when I do that, people say they have a hard time hearing me and sometimes don't even realize I'm talking or will say "what?" mid-sentence as if they don't notice my lips are still moving.

I think the problem is that my voice happens to be a frequency that blends in very well with any background noise.
I can't think of any other reason why my own voice would seem so much louder (I mean a lot louder) than people speaking to me.

EDIT: Reading through this thread I think I need to clarify. What I'm asking is whether your perception of your own voice (how loud you hear it) compared to what you hear when other people are talking is louder or quieter. The relative loudness of your voice compared to other people is mostly irrelevant.

The answers here are important to me and it seems overloaded with people who misunderstood. Maybe I'll make a new poll.

Since my voice is deep and really monotone, it also blends in with background noise. I have to make an effort of enunciating and speaking up.

I speak pretty quietly unless I force myself to be loud.

My English teacher once told me i'm soft spoken so that probably means my voice would be more on the quiet side.

She always asked me to read in class when studying plays: King Lear
and Romeo and Juliet , I was often picked out to read out the meek character bits, like a messenger, some
trembling person about to be killed or any child voices

I hate people who aren't considerate of other people, I'm generally very quiet, especially in public places. Just about the only time I'm ever loud is if I'm playing mulitplayer games with other people in the room or something.

I don't feel the need to speak loudly, others may listen or die from their own ignorance.

I feel like i'm talking loud, or at least average, but it turns out my voice is relatively softer than others.

If I'm not mentally reminding myself to be quiet i'm pretty loud, but I've trained myself pretty well to be quiet.
Hey at least with my voice being naturally louder than others I don't have to worry about people saying: "what?" "huh?" every ten seconds.
