Sacrifice myself to save humanity? I'd have to ask myself, in that universe which I'd be in, is humanity worth saving? In this universe I said yes, I believe that there is still hope for us to get better. Giving my life for it would be worth it in the long run.

Overall I would classify myself as an anti-hero. I wouldn't care if I was looked at as a heroine or a villain so long as the job got done. Killing thousands to safe millions has an obvious answer to me; kill the thousands. If I die in the process then so be it. Granted, each situation is different and there would be a lot to factor in, but that is the general answer. If the millions weren't worth it then why do it?

If it were to save the woman I loved, I'd do everything up to torching the entire planet. Going to great lengths for the person you love can be an amazing things, but it isn't black and white. You also think of what the person in question wants. If your lover doesn't want you to avenge them, or kill dozens or millions to save them, then you have to listen to them.

Say your wife / husband / lover / or even a friend needed a heart transplant but the decided to pass on it to save a child. That's something you accept, not argue, because it is up to the one you love; not you. You see is often enough in anime where a protagonist will go crazy killing people, but in the end the only thing they accomplish is hurting they person they're trying to save. Finding someone alive doesn't always mean that you've saved them.

If i honestly had the choice. no. I want to watch the world burn as the avariciousness of society and governments consumes everything.

i would gladly watch the world end.

As a christian myself, I can't answer this question.

Someone already died to save humanity, I don't have to.

I'm not going to comment on what you believe in... But the point of this thread is to think of it as if you were in that situation.

First off, what does it mean to save humanity? Are you avoiding "Armageddon", "The Apocalypse"... I'll assume you mean total extinction.
I which case, no. Humanity is flawed, it is corrupt. Not all of them, but I'd say the majority is. The more I think about it, the less I think humans are worth saving.

Yes there's corruption. But the world is improving and making it into a better place for humans to live on.

And yes, I meant that by sacrificing yourself you'll save humanity from a Armageddon. I'm not sure if I were clear on this when I made the thread but, I tried to make a hidden message in the post... that said something like, are you willing to see everyone around you suffer when you have a perfect free life? Or are you willing to sacrifice yourself to save everyone whom is suffering. My original choice of words might have been a bit messed up.

If I have already lived a pretty good life so far I'd probably choose death. But if it were right now, I'd probably sacrifice like my leg and my ear or somethin'. I'm not ready to die now, hell no.

Ok, so for those few non corrupt, you would value your own life more than theirs? Sorry, I can't quite agree to that. From the perspective I think you are coming from, the knowledge of my own sins versus merely the good people I know would be sufficient justification for me to save them at the cost of my life.

Now, the reasons I would sacrifice myself:
1. I've been in long periods of isolation in my life, where the only interaction I had was hostile. I would much rather die than face isolation again.
2. I know that my life is not worth more than someone else's, and it certainly isn't worth more than the rest of humanity.
3. While I have no lover or other person I have a very strong emotional attachment to, I do have people, in my life, that I think could benefit the world and whom I care for more than myself.
4. I never did have much value for my life other than a bit of self preservation and fear of whatever the afterlife consists of, so if I managed to make a trade like that I would feel like I had pulled the biggest swindling in history.

I feel like I would sacrifice myself so that humanity can live a better future, especially if I was a time traveler and knew what the future had in store.

There is great honor in those kinds of character, which is why I admire these two so much.

Depends on the situation. Say I had to die to protect humanity from an evil villain who wants to destroy the world, then yes just to spite that villain and save humanity. Then I could be like "ha, I beat you."

And actually I would probably say yes to almost all situations. Because if I choose to not die to save the world, we all die anyways right? It seems as if there isn't a way out for me so sure I can die. I don't care about most people's lives, and I only care about Earth itself to the point where I'm happy and alive. Dying to save the world would only be because I know I can't escape death and maybe just a little because of friends I care about.

This was gonna be longer, but the world doesn't want me to express this -- seeing as the computer deleted everything I wrote. I won't give up. so easily.

My main two reasons I refuse to save humanity:
#1: The war between Israel and Palestine
#2: The conflict in Ferguson.

Countries massacre each other, you'd think they would know better by now. Cops killing African-Americans on the basis of racial profiling. Corruptness is everywhere. Humans are not worth saving.
