On the home page you always have that recommendation box, but it always links to the last episode.
What's the point of that? Why would you recommend someone who hasn't watched a show the last episode?

Those are new episodes on the site.

Moved this over to Site Support for you, since it's a site question

I think mostly those are because it shows the latest action - if the tagline looks interesting and you haven't started watching, it might get you started. If you were watching and dropped it, you might pick it back up seeing a cool action moment from later in the series after some filler that turned you off.

That's just my guesses, though.

It doesn't say those are recommendations.
It tells you to watch them.

Hmm, I think in origin those highlights were just to bring attention to the latest uploads. But as CR grew and it randomly highlights any show, it probably should have changed. You're right, if they're going to show non-simulcasts there, it shouldn't be the final episode (nor episode 1 probably, the show's page).

Though the disadvantage of that over the "latest episode" is the promo-poster for any given show is completely uninformative, while episode screenshots properly contain some of the show's flavor often. While that can be solved, they'll probably just do the promo-posters if they do this switch.

I favor the idea of switching. There's many small refinements needed for the site with how much it's grown.
