So apparently researchers have found a 200 year old alcohol from a shipwreck.

They've confirmed that there's 14% alcohol left in it and that it's "drinkable"... The only problem being that it's rather nasty smelly.

And my question is, would you drink it... Even if it's smelly?

I know I would, since just who else could say they've taken a sip from a 200 year old liquor that's been in a shipwreck?

I'm gonna go with this. It's likely I'd try it but if it smells too bad no way.

14% alcohol? It must be pretty watered down.

Stuart Ashen, he tries old food items on his youtube page.
Me personally I wouldn't.

Here is a link of him trying 41 year old wedding ale.

I'm a minor, so I can't say from experience whether or not it'd be good, although I hear that certain liquors age extremely well and others tend to do poorly when aged.

I guess I'd probably do it just to say that I drank something that was 200 years old, unless if I honestly couldn't gut it, because, after all, half of taste is smell. If it smells bad, then more often than not, it isn't that appealing in taste either, but there are exceptions (we eat stinky, aged cheese, don't we?)

Either way, it's a cool historic discovery.

I'd taste it, but no more. Rinse and spit, just like what is recommended when taste-testing alot of alcohol.
