I'm sure most of you have seen this

http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2014/07/28/japanese-government-to-start-anti-animemanga-piracy-operation-next-month

So they're going to annihilate most sites and stuff. The good thing is, they say they're going to supply sites where you can actually pay for what you're reading/watching

I personally don't have a problem with the payment like most people. But with that being said, there are still problems. I think now they're going to limit some fans. Like teenagers. Some don't have credit/debit cards. I know I didn't before. So I wouldn't have been able to watch/read the stuff I'm into now

well, that aside. Let's talk about what's good for this outcome. It was reported that 560 billion yen was lost because of piracy. My hope for this is, if they get all that money back within the next few years, then I'm expecting that they put that money to use and see almost every anime have great quality like Attack on Titan.

But that's my view. I want to know what most of you think about this whole ordeal

personally think it would be cool to be able to pay for legal anime/manga viewing.

as long as they can provide a good range of titles... and don't have "This is not available in your region" message (this one line pisses me off so much)... then i'm happy to pay to access more subtitled anime.

It's not like Crunchyroll and Hulu are going to be taken down. They can still watch them on here.

I think it would be more promising if this operation could include region-free uncensored fan service titles more often. For example, if there were 7 fan service titles per season, we could get all of them or at least 4 of them.

I think your title is misleading; its not an anti anime and manga operation but an anti piracy operation. Personally i think it'll probably be a good thing... people should support what they love and it takes money to produce anime and when profits are loss because of illegal streams it hurts them. There are free legal streaming sites already were at least they make some ad revenue and if you pay for streaming you are giving them support more directly.

While they are loosing money to piracy it hurts the legit fans by making anime more costly to license and skyrocketing dvd release prices to try to recuperate the loss.

Japan should just allow Crunchyroll to stream in their country.

The plot starts in the post-apocalyptic Internet, where nearly all pirate anime sites have been destroyed by gigantic alien monsters nicknamed "Japanese Government". Protagonist - an absolutely average Tokyo otaku - gets caught into the maelstrom of strange events and acquaintances, soon finding himself a target of powerful organization that aims to eliminate him for finding the evidence of legal and illegal anime sites belonging to same owner. Mysterious girl-lizard, who turns out to be his cross-dressed grand-grand-uncle sent from past, accompanies him in his dangerous quest in desperate attempt to kick Tokyo cats off their chocolate addiction.

They probably won't do anything to Western sites.

But if they do, I hope they come up with a legal alternative.

It's okay guys, there will always be illegal anime and manga sites. But for everything else, there's Mastercard.
