I completely agree especially when the game is out of print, no recent or planned porting and not digitally available. I also much rather own a copy of the game legally (as some people resort to emulation if the conditions are met above). Also buying the game new wouldn't support the company by then, it would just be a profit to the private seller. I assume that you are buying the game to play versus to collect it though.

Normally yes, I will buy games new, if it's a game I truly want in my library. I will also wait for the price to drop if it's something I won't buy on release, because I want to support the publishing and game companies. I tend to buy a lot of jrpgs and some companies are very hesitant to localize the game in the first place. Showing support may increase the likelihood for future localizations or even producing other games developed to be a part of the series. Companies these days really need to make the money since next generation games are getting more and more expensive with the robust technology -- longer development time and creative innovations means money. So our money to these companies has become our voice to them (although square Enix can easily be questioned here given their recent trilogy series release).

I don't see a problem especially if its games that have sold into the millions. Like for example, I would buy GTA 5 pre-owned because it already sold millions and millions of copies. Now, it doesn't mean I'll wait till the point it does. Also, how long has it been out. 1 year and later, I think it's fine buying pre-owned. That's just me, more than half of my games on the Vita, PS4, and PS3 are new.

Majority of my games are preowned. If it's a hard to find game and no one is selling them factory sealed, then I would go for it.

I can honestly say I have no problem buying pre-owned games and have never had an issue with a pre-owned game I have purchased.

I really don't mind buying pre-owned because the game will always have the same quality as if you bought it new. One thing that'll be missing is the exclusive stuff that comes with it (i.e. costumes and dlc if you plan on buying it)

Most of my games are pre-owned. As long as the game disc is working, it's okay with me.

I usually prefer to buy games new these days. In the past I have gone for pre-owned and had little to no provlems with the game. One thing I dislike about pre-owned games is when the games don't come with a case at all or comes in the store's generic ugly looking cases. That and the super sticky used price sticker on the box that never comes off in one go. It always takes so much effort to get those off. Nitpicking aside, what matters most if the game is at least in decent condition and plays with no issues. Only time I don't support pre-owned is when a business takes a new game that is high in demand, purposely open the box and slap a pre-owned price on it that is more than the new price. Because when its pre-owned they can dictate the price and profit off the game. One such case I saw where I Iive , last year, was with wii titles such as Xenoblade Chronicles and Metroid Prim Trilogy. Apperently every store had plenty of pre-owned but the new games were nowhere to be found. Trust me I understand when a game gets populare and becomes hard to find, but to have an abundance of used copies of said game and to sell them for over their listed price. Especially if its a game your pretty positve numerious people wouldn't go outright and return. Case in point, be wary of these types of "pre-owned" games.

I prefer to buy new since it means that the money will (eventually) find it's way back to the developer and I like to support those who make the media products I enjoy rather than just support the retailer.

However, if I object to a publisher's/developer's business practices (vote with your wallet, kids!) or if the game is out of print (and no digital copy is available) then I'll buy pre-owned.
