someone had sent this to me over youtube during an argument of how I felt Naruto has got, gave alot of criticism toward the story and the characters, and how I feel Naruto Shippuden as a whole was a big step down form the first series
I also compared it to bleach for how the shows both started out good but then took steep declines with alot of filler.

I got alot of flack for this by Naruto fans but here is one that stood out.
Edited alot of the profanity.:

"I don't know what the $@(&* your saying when you compared Shippuden to Bleach. Naruto and Bleach have no similarities whatsoever! I have to admit that those are the best animes and mangas out there! I really don't see a bunch of goofy a$$ pirates look for something inessential as "One Piece" is really even up there as just a good anime. Naruto has the best storyline any anime can ever have. There is just no comparison to Naruto. And don't tell me Shippuden is just as worse you retard! Shippuden is even @$(*#@( better. Right now in the freaking up to date manga, there are character's that legit have divine powers. They are as strong as anyone can ever be! They are fighting like gods out there! And you compare that to a (@*$( that can stretch his arms around and can't swim??? AND HE IS A $(*@#( PIRATE?? WHO CAN'T SWIM? "GUM GUM PISTOL!!!!!!!!"???? REALLY? Just get that ()(*#$( out of here. If you don't know the story then shut the fuck up. Bleach is just as good and powerful as the storyline as Naruto, and deserves the Ranking of 2 in the Best animes ever created. How can you even bring One Piece into that $#@)? There are many animes/ manga that is better than One Piece, and still has less episodes than freaking 500!!!! Like Blue Exorcist, Sword Art Online, Heroman, Deathnote, Full Metal Alchemist, and freaking Shaman King. You can say whatever you want to say. But, Naruto is more popular out there than any other anime or manga! Naruto has the best ratings and most viewers/fans! GT*O @#)?"

There were alot of others who gave me similar responses but this is the one that stood out

For years people have criticized the fanbase for acting this way, and i hadn't been on forums much to meet people like this, i just figured if they were they would be trolls, but this guy was legit serious, because i checked his comment feed and he gives responses like this in every post he puts whether its positive or negative.

In my experience, I find that this tends to happen with many shounen fans in general. Even moreso with those of the Naruto and Bleach fanbases.

I don't think I can explain why without coming off as condescending or biased. What I will say though, is that I've found many shounen fans, especially of the Naruto fanbase, clinging desperately to the genre and the one or two specific anime they so loyally follow without any thought of critiquing it. Those same fans I've dealt with also tend to not actually watch anime or read manga...at all. With the exception of their chosen shows of course.

You do realize that the word fan comes from Fanatic yes?

Everything popular has these people and saying they are representative of the entire group of people who like said thing is absurd.

But it's just weird how I've never encountered this problem from any other fanbase not even the StarWars fanbase, the only other fanbase i've encountered this problem with is maybe the Christopher Nolan fanbase.

But as far as anime goes I got to say Naruto maybe be the worst of them all at least that i've encountered , and i am glad the show is ending for that reason and Bleach will end soon after seeing how the ratings are for it.

BUt I fear these same fans will just cling onto another manga/anime, im guessing Fairy Tail, hunter X Hunter, Beelzebub, or Akame Ga Kill.

But i don't think it will EVER get as bad as i've seen the Naruto's fanbase.

Even Dragon Ball Z's fanbase wasn't this bad

Agreed. I don't think any fanbase could ever be as bad as the Naruto fanbase. I would have to disagree on the series that they would cling to though. Chances are when Naruto and Bleach come to a close, a new shounen that will take 700 episodes will spring up.I don't see them clinging to anything else really.

Well the majority that i've encountered all act like the one that i quoted in my OP.

It's just strange because when Naruto first hit the states here in Cali i don't remember it being this bad. it's when Shippuden came along that is REALLy became bad. both the show and the fanbase.

and also another thing i've noticed is these Naruto fans always bash on the One Piece fanbase, unprovoked.

you would think these shonen only watchers would actually enjoy One Piece. or any shonen, the more shonen the better you would think but know like you said they cling on to 2, then just spout hate on any other show in general.

I also noticed if you ever asked a Naruto fan why Naruto is better than One Piece they have the same argument:

"Because Naruto has better powers, one piece has a guy that is made of rubber."

that's the argument i've come across most.

do people really measure the greatness of an anime based of it's FIGHTs and concepts of POWERS???

I find this to be a problem amongst shounen fans in general. Especially actual shounen in the age range of like, 10-18. They don't care how good or bad an anime actually is, not for the plot, animation, writing, whatever. They care about the fights and how flashy the characters are.

Adolescent boys indeed.
