Only with plates looking anime and stuff?

Could collaborate with a showroom when you invite people to launch...

Yes !

Of course there is plenty of stuff to be thought,

But the main idea is to make the place look as cool as this car using lots of different characters,

Some cool dishes not commonly seen (at least where I live) like KARE (curry) Lamen,

But the main idea is to invest in the decoration, and have some really great food, but not so many options

I had the feeling that's what you meant ..but see I don't know if that will work. It would to be honest, personally, aggravate me to see naruto's annoying face on a plate. And that user eatrainbows is right in that simplicity triumphs. If you are going for the otaku bedroom kind of theme, it might work but I don't think anyone would want to bring a date to one. You want people to think less and enjoy more. Would it be better to go for the anime romance theme like sakura trees and such for decoration?

There's a girl on cr who usually posts gifs of anime food on the forum games... jellobear... if you ask her, she could give you her collection (if she collects) or her sources.

Haha you won't eat by looking at naruto's face in your plate, it won't go as far, the plates and utensils will be the classic japonese ones (the best I can find),

The main idea here is to customize the walls and such,

What I had in mind (work in progress and in early stage) is to have lots of cool characters,

Like: Naruto, Akame Ga kill, some giants from SNK etc,

and in another part as suggested a place a bit more calm, perhaps on the sakura trees decoration !

Thanks you all for the feedback, I love the otaku community :)

Just don't call it a Japonese restaurant, lol, I'm just pulling your strings. But seriously though, that would be bad

My suggestion will always be, maid cafe trumps all

That way it gets an even wider audience than just our Anime Niche group

I think it could work as long as the food is good and you don't take things too far into the "theme restaurant" realm. No character plates as Severticas said. Decorate the place with things like framed animation cells, rare mangas, pretty much anything signed by artists, a few display cases with rare/classic box sets and figures/statues. Just Keep the fanservice to a minimum and everything tasteful. No cosplay waitresses (except for special occasions maybe). Go with solid color anime logo/character print T-shirts with a cap or visor to identify staff. If you're near a large enough population to pull a customer base from you might be able to make a go at it.

There'd be no shortage of waitresses and hirable staff, especially students, that's certain. There is going to be an inevitable clash of cultural perceptions and social etiquette. I imagine this scenario:

"What can I do for you onee-chan?"

uhhhh I guess I want this omelet thing

"Kyaaaa, right away. I'll make it special just for you~"

y-you too

"-receive omelet with heart symbol in ketchup!"

I didn't ask for ketchup

"I'm so sorry senpai, please forgive me"

No it's fine, I'll eat it

"senpai, you baka hentai"

What?

The creativity for service and setting is malleable, as one can employ cosplay waitresses, festoon the walls with anime themed art and decor, or use touch screen menus with 2D themed characters, those sorts of things. Cost, however, is up to the proprietor.

Okay, that's great because i got angry just thinking about it. But then not everyone is as easily irritable so it might work.

I think if you want to go for bizarre that would be cool, would attract even non anime folks.

LOL, true story, didn't even realised I wrote it like that, you write japanese with an *o* in my native language, got caught by it

Maid cafe not sure If it would work here, as this is something very very modern (to where I live)

Though japAnese food is something already very popular, so even people who ins't too much into animes (or ins't at all) will probably check the place out of curiosity to eat and if they like the food, they most likely will come back again

But that doens't mean we can't put some chicks dressed as maids

Cheers!

You know how restaurants give discounts to military and elderly, well during a convention(hopefully if you have one near you) offer a discount to those that attend the convention(make sure they give you proof). A lot of anime fans attending an anime convention would appreciate the discount since conventions can be expensive.
Also if you want to have a successful business have reasonable prices, but give large portions. This is something my mom taught me as she remembers a restaurant that served big portions cheap and the owner was always packed.
Also use fresh ingredients if at all possible, nothing beats having a meal comprised of fresh ingredients.
I had this idea(the discount idea) when I wanted to start a restaurant that served a good large plate of southern home cooking. It's just that when I think of people going to a convention they eat fast food or something cheap. So I wanted to open a restaurant next to a big convention center and whenever conventions were held I would give a discount to the attendees so they can have a nice delicious home cooked meal.
I still have this dream, but my main dream is what I'm focusing on now(to be a director and screen writer).
I wish you luck on your dream and I look forward to visiting your restaurant when it opens.

Yes, exactly, the theme won't go that far, like I mentioned before it will be something cool enough to *force* people taking pictures and giving some meaning to the place, but no far from that ! I promisse there will be no narutos in no ones plate LOL

Your idea for figures and rare items is great, thanks a lot !!!

Fanservice I agree, like I mentioned, in here (São Paulo, Brazil) even though we have the largest otaku community of South America, and the biggest in terms of japanese immigrants of the whole america, we cannot go as far as having the waitress speaking japanese lines, that would be a disaster hahahahaha

The cosplay waitresses would be something more of a occasion, I agree it inst a everyday thing !

The shirt idea is a must, Thanks for the tips !!!

Dude, I laughed my ass off LOL

Yes, staff should be easy to find young people into anime to work, cosplay idea is good, but I guess its more of a occasion, the touch screen is a great idea, but must check how viable and expensive that would be !

Great idea, we have an annual convention here called anime friends, its getting pretty famous (guess 400 k attendees this year), and the discount thing is a must, thanks !

About portions I totally agree, like I mentioned before, we don't plan on something fancy, we plan on something fresh and young, with great food (though simple, not very fancy) but good looking and very tasty, and of course a great portion !

Keep chasing your dreams bro ! no guts no glory after all right ?
