Sounds pretty cool, but how much thought have you put into it so far? Running a restaurant is a hell of a lot harder than you might think.

My buddy is a sushi chef, and we were thinking about put it to action only in the next year, after a lot of planing and preparations !

Thanks for the warning, no one should get into a business without some serious considerations and all !

Awesome stuff. If you've got a solid plan, this could be fun. Good fortune for you, sir.

There's an anime/manga cafe near where I work and it's pretty neat. They've got tons of manga you can read or buy while eating or drinking, you can buy bento boxes, and bubble teas. They show anime or J-Drama on their TVs too. I think they've got a karaoke section also. Never tried it.

But yeah this place is filled with weeaboos. Gotta be prepared for that. I love their bubble teas though!!!

Good luck with your project

gotta have Ramen

But in all seriousness having great decorations and food is good, but you need to figure out what you are going to do advertising wise before you get into it too far. Like figuring out where and how you are going to advertise. You just don't want to spend too much on everything then not have a fund for advertising because you can always add more decorations over time.

I don't know where you live but in Las Vegas, NV we have an anime restaurant.. It's called anime ramen.. I really love it but my brother and some of his friend doesn't like it.. It's very popular among to anime fans. Some likes it (like me) and some doesnt.. They relocate farther away from my house so I couldn't really go haha. Sucks but they used to be right next to Chinatown.. They have some anime posters on the wall and they show anime movies.. I think they moved to the strip..They get to wear cosplay as their uniform

You should try it.. Maybe it's gonna be popular.. I love going anywhere with an anime themed places

First things first. You gotta think about location, location, location

Then, the demographic of the area

You may want to start by spelling Japanese right

On the terms of business ideas. I think it would be cool to operate a comic book shop that was also a bar. Like a back room that was a full service bar, playing amvs all day. Iunno sounded cool in my brain.

That sounds like a great idea a Japanese restaurant with an Anime theme. I would go there, only thing we have out here is a comic book cafe, no manga cafe here.

From only hearing them mention including mainstream series on the restaurant, I'd say this doesn't sound weeaboo enough.
Well, I still don't understand the term very much, so what do I know.

If you dont like, dont comment.

About the main idea, would it be a generic anime restaurant with characters like Hatsune Miku, vocaloids, Hetalia, etc.? Or is it just going to be a collection?
I feel that for design, maybe you should create different sections e.g. a portion of the restaurant being dark anime, a portion being generic happy anime, another portion being luv duv romance, stuff like that I would like, because not everyone likes the same type of anime. Then you should also have a wall dedicated to customer's cosplay or fanart, maybe even have a shelf filled with anime models...

As for food I feel as though you should go for classics like ramen, cake, bento boxes with special themes (love, all rice, all sweet food), cake definitely cake if you need a reference for what type look up Ouran High School Host Club, special Japanese deserts e.g. Mochi, anpan, anime character bread. Theres so much food you can do...

Thats all I got.

Hello !

Me and my buddy were discussing a business idea, a western like japanese restaurant anime themed,

What you guys think ? it would have dishs like in the animes (like lamen from naruto) etc, apart of course from the mainstream (sushi), and perhaps cosplay waitresses and cool decoration

What you would like to see in a place like this ?

By the way what's Lamen? Do you mean Ramen? Because that's spelled with an R. Or らめん with a ら (ra). Japanese does have R's it doesnt have L's.

Also you said somewhere that your native language spelled Japanese with an "o" i.e. Japonese, what language is that? Ive seen Japon being spelled that way in French but I believe it converts back to Japanese when you add the "ese", Im unsure though.

Also anime is a plural word by itself, spelling/saying animes with a "s" at the end is an incorrect way of saying it.

Maybe you could have an anime quiz night somewhat like a pub quiz, except it's centred around anime-based trivia?

Also who's your audience? Regular people who happen to like anime, or the 'Kawaii desu, Japan is the best' demographic? Only one tends to annoy the other :p

You could do the thing some restaurants do where they have a meal or drink themed around a popular anime e.g. cocktails containing colours that correlate to the colour palettes of certain characters in said show.

Is there an age you're aiming for, too? I only ask because I wonder what it'd be like for an anime-loving father to go in with one of his kids, only to be met by a flirtatious waitress in a scantily-clad outfit. There's an internet video in the making.

Again I've no idea if this would work out, but you know how some restaurants give out colouring books and stuff with activities in for kids? Maybe you could do those but for adults, and have activities like how to practice cel-shading with pre-drawn outlines and guidelines showing how to make it look convincing and not... well... crap, how the animation processes work etc. hell, maybe those could work for kids too, though it may be better to introduce that stuff later on.

If you're going to have music playing be careful not to have it too loud. There are some restaurants that do that and it's quite unpleasant. Given most restaurants are used as a location to hangout during social outings it's not nice when you can barely hear the person sat in front of you.

Try and give the place a soulful feeling too. I get that's easier said than done, but at least there's room to make it feel different to some lifeless chrome thing where all the 'hip, young whipper-snappers' go. I'm by no means old, in fact 18 is incredibly young, but even I appreciate a place that has character, and the types of people who'd go to a place like this probably do too.

I'm sure this bit goes without saying, but remember to vary your utensils. You could have chopsticks for the people that want to use them, but have some knives and forks for those who don't want to/can't.

And for gods' sake make sure the staff are going to enjoy themselves. There's nothing more miserable than waiters/waitresses that have forgotten how to laugh. Even in anime one of the main things with popular cafes and restaurants is service 'with a smile'.

I'm glad to hear you plan on serving large portions as well. It's a pain to leave a restaurant and still feel hungry. At least when I go out for a meal I know I want to eat something tasty and filling, as opposed to a work of art that would leave an ant dissatisfied.

Though again, like I said, this is being written by an 18 year old with absolutely no business experience or anything, so take what I say as you will. I also wish you the best of luck. I'm in the United Britain of England so I'll likely never see it, but respect to you for wanting to have a place for the anime lovers to hang out.
