Post Reply the new roku channel for crunchyroll

so i watch crunchyroll on my roku a lot or i did untill they did an update and changed it. Now i have problems with the channel so im watching on my comp or my tab, Is anyone else having trouble with crunchyroll on their roku also or is it just me?

The list of issues:
1. random Dc
2. no way to watch prior episodes of a series your watching.
3.the search engine is generic and does not bring up the full line up of shows available.
4.no resume option for episodes you have to leave on and want to come back too.

these are just some of the problems i have had and was just wondering if it was just me or anyone else have the same trouble.

I've moved this over to the Roku forum in the Help section of the forums. It's a good place to look to see that you are very much not alone.

However, I've not seen anyone report your #4 -- are your episodes really not resuming? My experience has been that even though there is not an explicit "resume" option, it's because resuming from where you left off happens automatically . (What's missing is an option to "play from beginning" --right now we have to rewind a show we've already watched or started watching if we want to start from the beginning)

I've enjoyed the app thus far, Episodes look great in HD. I wish my queue was like the old crunchy roll app. I hate seeing episodes in my queue I would rather see the list of my anime's in the order that I have placed them in.

With all that said......Today you really dropped the ball crunchy roll .........

1. App doesn't load all the time. I have to restart my roku at times to get it to load.
2. Get message saying couldn't connect to service check internet connection. Try again and I can get into the app on a second try. Still annoying
3. Every updated simulcast video from today AND yesterday give me the same message. "Couldn't play video" Check your connection/account and try again......

Number 3 pisses me off the most. FYI

Number 3 pisses me off the most. FYI

From what I understand other people saying, I think that it gives that error message whether or not that is the issue ... in particular, when a series has not been finished encoding yet, they give an error about connection or servers, even when nothing is wrong with either, its just not got the encoding finished yet.

BTW one note the "simulcast" has never really worked.

Simulcast meaning cast simultaneously with the airing, when trying to play it at the same time its always been terrabad buffering, that said I prefer to watch it after it has subtitles.

but one actual issue is now if I watch an ep all the way to the end (IE when it stops) I get that account/connection error, lul wut?

Other than the NHK series, "simulcast" is a really slippery concept when a series premieres on two or three or ... well, up to seven different days in different parts of the country.

So for a lot of them, just pick a different broadcast time for the series in a different part of the country, and you'll get much better "simulcast" results. Though, granted, a lot of people don't have the patience to watch it along with the airing on BS-11 when a large share of the population of Japan have their access to most of the broadcasts, often a week or more after the Tokyo premiere.

Since the new player is variable bitrate, one refinement when the HD stream is not available would be for Crunchyroll to feed the 360p stream that the free members are getting with an onscreen overlay message, "SD stream presently available, HD stream will be available shortly"

I can only get the first episode of Jojo, Dio the Invader, to come up on roku. I have no options at all except to watch the kne episode and when it ends I just get the exact same episode again. Does anyone else have this issue?

In your queue? Exit the app back the the Roku main menu and start CR back up again.

Or is this happening somewhere else?

Ok, weird... When you look at the show page in a browser, does the orange stripe go all the way to the end? Or does it stop short?

The new CR app is an abomination. So difficult to navigate, I get that "couldn't play video" error message every time, etc. Is there any acknowledgment of these issues from CR and if so, any time table for fixes?

i get that "couldnt play video" too on every episode, makes me just wanna start watching videos on my ipad instead on my tv.
