If you've gone to college and received financial aid, did you ever have extra money that you didn't need and just wasted it on random stuff?

Edit: I'm planning to use my extra FA to get my license. After that, I'll save most of it.

I usually save it since I never know when I will need it.

I always used what little I had to buy food. Can't learn on an empty stomach.

I didn't go to college, but if I did and had money left over - I would most certainly save it. Never know when you'll need it, or you can help someone who really needs it.

Ugh... Some of my stepdad's relatives use it for drugs and gambling. They're already in hot water.

Obviously you should not. Save it for next year and take smaller loans.

mostly on games, anime and manga. donated some to charity.

I don't feel like I've wasted it though... at least I didn't use it on gambling.

Lol I tried to give it back . The person at the financial aid office looked so perplexed.

My school (both college and high school) did very little in explaining how student loans worked so I was very unfamiliar with the process.

I eventually started a college saving trust and placed all extra cash in there and wait for em' to rack up some nice interest...hopefully....

LOL yes!!! I use to get an extra $1500 each quarter. Most of it went towards rent but the remainder I used for fun stuff and food. I'm now regretting it since I owe so much now. You would think I went to college to become a doctor.

Why should I waste it? All I need is to pay for classes, buy books (used ones if available) and essential supplies. I want to be an engineer so I will save every remaining penny to accomplish it.

I actually took a federal loan because of books, food, traveling costs (since I'm off campus) etc. Grants covered all tuition and I got a little extra back. I'll probably save up my money to take summer classes.

Hopefully your loan isnt much. If you have a job u can bring in some money to save up for summer classes, future semesters, food, and anything you like... If you don't then I recommend searching for an on campus job. That would help too.

I've been fortunate enough to not take out a loan yet or ask my parents for help. I have an on campus job and racked up a lot of money this summer where I bought my own books and other stuff.

Anyways good luck and I hope you enjoy college/university
