Is this on purpose or a bug?

I noticed a few weeks back that sun ken rock seems to go on and off the catalog as well.

also, any update as far as catching up on back issues for sun ken rock, Soredemo Machi, or Coppelion? I just finished all the completed series on the app, looking to start a new one but don't want to get stuck in the middle of a series.

This is because of your mature content setting. I don't know anything about back issues though.

It's a mature content thing, (I'm pretty sure chapter 54 is what finally got them to push Sun-Ken Rock into that category!) In addition the app behaves a bit weird which is why it will seem to come and go.

This info is based specifically on my experience on an iPad, since I suspect it's the iOS app that is giving you trouble.

First, in your settings on the Crunchyroll website, be sure your Manga Preferences are set to "Show Mature Content."

In the app:

IME, I usually have to logon fresh when I open the Manga App, but I've found that sometimes even when it seems I'm still logged in, it won't show me mature content. In that situation If the steps to just change your "Sort" don't work, then logging out and logging back in, and then switching your "Sort" should work.

When the app starts up, it defaults to show the "Popular" "Sort" but it doesn't show any mature content. After you log in it doesn't automatically refresh the Popular View, so,

1) Log in

2) Click "Sort" and choose one of the other options there--I usually choose Recently Updated because I think all (or at least most) of the titles are included there.

3) As long as the mature content titles you are interested in are in that "sor"t, you should now see it in the list. If for some reason you chose a "sort" that wouldn't normally include the title, just click on "Sort" then "Popular." This time you will get the refreshed "popular" list that includes mature content.

This affects your bookmarks too, since it seems to be coordinated with whatever "Sort" you have selected, so if you haven't refreshed the Sort list to display mature content, you won't be able to pick these from your bookmarks either (you will see the thumbnails but the title won't be displayed, and if you click on it you will get an error). As above, just change to a sort that has the title, and it should refresh your bookmarks so the mature content is accessible.

I just tried that and no dice so far. I toggled the mature content setting off and on and then quit the app from the background thread. then did the sort trick and dont see anything.

I also tried to log out, thinking that a fresh log in would force a refresh but I can't even log out. it shows me a button that says ok, and I'm still logged in.

btw, I do see mature titles, I assume Ajin is mature considering it's gore (as well as fort of apocalypse and as the gods will).

It's just Ken Sun Rock and A town where you live that I dont see.

That's odd. I don't remember about Ajin, but As the Gods Will is definitely one of the mature content titles. (I don't think Fort of Apocalypse is unless it was changed after the first couple of months--I do know it was not originally a mature content title. A Town Where You Live has always been a "mature content" title).

Sounds like you should contact Customer Support directly, using the Contact Us link (though you probably won't get a personalized response for a couple of days.)

I also get the 'okay' box with no logout, but only on my iPad Air, not the Mini or phone. I fired off a support email, but am not holding my breath. The iOS app is still fairly buggy since the last update, and who knows when the bugs will be ironed out? It is better than it was at first, however. I've tried all the usual tricks (logout/login, restart iPad, delete/re-install app) to little avail.

Re: A Town Where You Live. I once had it in my queue, but it never opened properly (kept getting error messages), so I gave up and deleted it.

That's interesting. Didn't think there would be a difference between the iOS devices. I've got an iPad Mini, so that could account for me not having logout problems, while others do.

I can't figure out why different iPads would produce different results (in this case, at least), either. Both have the latest iOS, and the latest version of the manga app with the same content and 'mature content' enabled, so who can tell? At any rate, one hopes the app will get updated to bring it up to iOS 8 standards, when the latter comes out.

Sooo, turns out I am having the logout problem on iPad mini. Grrrr.

ETA but after several attempts and hitting okay, none of which actually showed me as logged out or prompted me to login, I was able to see Sun-Ken Rock.

I guess things are just really wonky

Here's a couple older posts talking about silly restrictions on that title by Apple (that Android doesn't have):

I don't know if the apple restrictions makes sense as an excuse, because buffalo 5 girls has a ton of nudity and there are a lot of available series that are pretty gory. plus, I do see As The Gods Will and I have already seen Sun Ken Rock.

However, I can buy the theory that the publisher just hasn't released the tablet rights for A Town Where You Live.

It is no longer true that the mature content titles aren't available on the iOS app. I've been reading a number of these for a while. It just seems that something particularly glitchy has come up within the last day and a half. My instructions above worked consistently for me until yesterday.

I don't believe that's true. I'm pretty sure I did confirm I was able to see it a while ago when they first made the change using the manga mature content setting. But since I haven't been reading it, I can't vouch for it with the same certainty as for the other mature titles.

I just tried logging in and out on the Mini (original Mini, that is, not the Retina), with no problem. Still logged on in the Air, though. I'll try the phone later.

Considering the other extremely violent and mature titles I'm reading in the manga app at the moment (Fort of Apocalypse, King's Game, etc), I'm not sure what would cause A Town Where You Live to be problematic (since I can't read it). In addition, Apple sells violent and mature content on the iTunes Store. At any rate, I look forward to a day when we can read all the titles we want (hopefully) free of problems.

So I just woke up and tried the app and I see both Sun Ken Rock and A Town Where You Live.

The app is just really unstable.
